And if he can draw crowds like this ( at Hollywood Bowl, for TheManTheMusicTheShow), it doesn't matter if he's 50 . I wonder if Scott Rudin was in any of his shows. I remember that at the Madison Square Garden show, Hugh acknowledged the presence of the Head of the Shubert Organization (Phil Smith?) as well as Ted Chapin of the Rodgers&Hammerstein Organization.
I was looking online to refresh myself on what date single ticket sales are supposed to start and noticed that the NYtix.com site is saying that The Music Man is the upcoming show at the Lyceum Theatre. I haven’t seen that listed anywhere else. Anyone else heard that?
It’s more than that. There’s no wing space for large sets, etc. It would have to run for 5 years at the Lyceum to make money. It will go into the Shubert or Windergarden.

The thing is, I've mentioned NYTix a few times on these boards, but it's not a reliable source at all. A lot of it's information are pretty much just guesses of what random shows could go to Broadway. Example, it lists Company going into Studio 54, when Company has already confirmed to be going into a Shubert house (Studio 54 being apart of Roundabout). Or how it lists Blue as starting previews in CinS on March 1st, and a show called "Empire Records" opening also in CitS in March. Much of it, if even true, could be old information that has changed since this website got it, but it seems more like they are randomly guessing to just look more official.

Ah, gotcha. Good to know. I had never been to that theatre, so was familiarizing myself with the seating chart and cringed a bit thinking that tickets would be even harder to get to this show with such a small number of seats. If tickets do go on sale in a little over a month like they originally announced, then hopefully we’ll hear something official soon and at a larger venue like SouthernCakes was saying.

Young enough to pass as Harold's Harold's wife and Winthrop's brother?
I'm not going to agree with you on this, but I'm not going to insist that I'm right. Both show got rave reviews. MFL, unlike South Pacific, even was reviewed when cast changes occurred, including the change to Laura B., and I think that the Times called the show improved with the cast changes. The audiences did not respond, even for a brief honeymoon.
You say that the audience just wants a good performance. I say that a good performance means that the actor on stage should be portraying the actor in the book. Laura as Eliza and Kelli as Julie don't just look too old certainly according to the literature that they are based on, but see that photo of Eliza romping with the men in "The Rain in Spain" and she not only look too old, but she is glowing with self confidence. Kelli in the bench scene looks like more than a match for Billy. Her body language and her authoritative eyes.
How can an audience get a great performance in a role which is miscast? Neither Kelli or Laura look or act like guttersnipes who can't imagine anyone ever wanting to marry them. A look at other shows might help. Laura Benanti's own debut in the starring role of Sound of Music. Rebecca Luker left the show and Laura Benanti took the role. The Times critic, probably Frank Rich, never one to spare another's feelings, said that the show had been improved by the substitution of someone young and livelier.
And the appearance of Emma Stone as Sally in Roundabout's Cabaret. Although I saw her premiere performance and was too unsophisticated to realize that I was seeing a new star in the role, Roundabout certainly knew what they had as they extended and doubled the number of prime seats. It matters if a star or a star in the making is inserted as replacement. I really wonder what the result would have been if Sher had young, pretty, lively and funny SteFUNNY Styles in as Eliza.
Full Disclosure: unhappy that MFL managed barely half the run of South Pacific when it was received with such great reviews and is as a fact a more universally appealing show with the great score, scalding 2nd Act dialogue, humor and pageant. Looking around for a reason.
Now let's focus the discussion back on the billing. (said with smile).
So, group tickets are on sale, with a hefty price tag of $119.70 for the cheapest seats, but still no theatre listed, and opening night is now 10/15/2020.
These prices are nothing compared to Moulin Rouge.
Also, $107 for the cheapest seat in the mezz is wayyy too cheap for the Winter Garden. Maybe The Imperial? Unless the theatre they’re going into has a balcony, and the article above is misinformed.
In London, it’s common for shows to swap theatres mid-run, and I wonder if Rudin would propose/support a transfer to accommodate this production.

For side rear mezzanine at the Winter Garden, $107 ($109) sounds about right to me. For the cheapest rear mezzanine seats at the Imperial, $109 would be too much, as it would at any Shubert theatre with a balcony. Actually, if group tickets are $119.70, then regular price would probably be $129, which makes the most sense at the Winter Garden, since even the last row of the mezzanine has a decent view.
Every show has a cheaper option when tickets first go on sale, even if it's only the last 1 or 2 rows of the theatre. Generally, it's $99 or less, so $109 is right in line with that.
I figured these would be Hamilton level ($849 premium) but honestly these are fine considering the level of talent involved. A max price is $499 is not bad for Broadway and it's current prices.

If anything would move, I think it would be MOCKINGBIRD to a playhouse like the Golden or Jacobs. It's hugely expensive to do a move on Broadway and it's rarely worth it. (In the case of The Humans and August: Osage, the move WAS worth it.)
I'm assuming that the Winter Garden is the plan, and group sales are based on that plan, but Beetlejuice's success as of late is throwing a wrench into the works, as far as announcing is concerned,
Group "sales" this early are really just a marketing/planning tool. MOCKINGBIRD and other shows have done it before a theatre gets announced, too. They're unpaid reservations and nothing gets locked in until the show announces a theatre.
We're 22 days from the day when tickets have been announced to go on sale. 3 scenarios:
1) The show announces it's going to the Shubert, with Mockingbird closing or downsizing next July.
2) Beej posts a premature closing notice for sometime between January and August 2020.
3) The general on-sale is delayed until Music Man can announce a theatre.
I don't see BJ lasting another full year, but it's really a matter of when they're going to announce that; Ain't Too Proud is far too big a hit for the Imperial to be a possibility; obviously Phantom is still goin strong; there's no telling what the Mockingbird ##s will look like a year from now. (This is all assuming that Rudin is once again going with a large Shubert-owned musical house.)
Jefferson will be brilliant and is different than the typical blustering Mayor Shinn.
Hensley surprised me at first because he’s not a dancer, but when Marian & Harold are both brilliant dancers that’s probably fine for Marcellus to step away after the 1st verse of Shipoopi.
