I was hoping more for the Norm Lewis production to transfer from DC.

Just to play devil's advocate, this could be for a movie and not a Broadway revival. It's just a picture of Harold Hill's suitcase, it doesn't say anything like "Broadway 2020."

I agree w/MarkBearSF. I was hoping for the Norm Lewis production as well, but unfortunately, it's not w/Norm. I do hope they get Rosie ODonnell.  I told her that when I met her at the SD.  She said she was looking forward to get back on Bway. She was great as the Irish Mom.

So now all you seasoned Bway folks can tell me if Bway equity would allow a college marching band to perform 76 trombones as they did in Wash DC. Some tell me it's a union requirement that it be union musicians.  They did have an on-stage orch in Wash DC, but the Univ of Maryland marching band was a treat at the finale.

It is a Broadway revival.  Not a movie.

I think this could be an interesting choice for Jackman’s next musical. There are plenty of similarities between Professor Hill and Jackman’s own P.T. Barnum. But whilst playing a charismatic huckster with a softer side will be incredibly easy for Jackman, songs like “Trouble” are some of the hardest in the musical genre. I will be interested to see if Jackman can pull them off...

“The Music Man” is not very well known over here in Britain, mostly due to the very American subject matter. I believe that a popular film or stage revival could give it the international success it deserves...

If it's a Broadway revival, I can see this being as big or bigger than Bette Midler in Hello Dolly!

Yes, it’s a Scott Rudin Broadway musical revival, as early as next season is correct!

That moved quickly!

It wouldn’t surprise me if this is another Rudin revival. Like “Hello, Dolly!” it is a new version of a very American musical, centered on a big name who can bring in the Benjamins. Jackman will need an excellent supporting cast and a high quality stand-in, but I am confident this production will get both....

Hugh Jackman (with Laura Osnes as his Marian) in THE MUSIC MAN. This will be a monster hit just like Rudin's HELLO, DOLLY! with Bette!  I, for one, can't wait!  Hugh is electrifying on stage!

After Carousel and Oklahoma, you’d think they’d want to do something a little different with this property. Norm was great. I was hoping to see LMM, Daveed Diggs, Adam Jacobs, Darren Criss, or anyone with a little more edge for Harold. Or at least make Marian interesting. But alas...

Nobody sells tickets like Hugh. If he is indeed doing it on Broadway and this isn't some sick joke, this is gonna be BIG.

I'm more interested in who's directing/choreographing. Hugh Jackman works with Warren Carlyle a lot, but there are a ton of people who could do a great, joyous Music Man.

The show has a website and social platforms

https://musicmanonbroadway.com/

They'll probably announce today at some point now that it's out there, right?

Any potential this is what Jeremy Jordan is a part of?

Don’t really see him as Marcellus but never know. Also based on the web design alone, you can tell it’s a Rudin production.

After Rudin's Carousel, I'm a little less excited for this. It could either go the route of Carousel or the route of Hello, Dolly! It's interesting that he'll have two musical revivals coming out at around the same time. Is it possible that West Side Story is dead?

I think West Side Story is still on, but may be delayed to avoid competing with the Spielberg version. No-one can win THAT battle...

They're better off getting WEST SIDE up ASAP before the Spielberg version. Otherwise, they should wait til 2-3 years after the release. I wouldn't think Spielberg's would be released until, at the earliest, Summer 2020, and Ivo/Scott's West Side is scheduled to start previews in December 2019.

Rudin’s producing? Can’t wait to see “Sincere” in front of the curtain done at the Tonys!
