BE MORE CHILL (Broadway) Reviews |
any idea why stub hub prices for Saturday evenings are so cheap? Is George Salazar out on Saturday evenings or something? Every week I check they are in the $30's and $40s
Sounds like the producing team is panicking a little that is not getting enough attention pre-tonys.
They've definitely stepped up their marketing. I see BMC on EVERY automated subway map in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
For those of you who have TV, do they run TV Spots?
Yes, they are running ads on tv. They seem to be less frequent after it opened.

I see them on bus signs.

I have a TV, but I usually use it for Netflix, Hulu, etc. Although, when I do watch TV, I am surprised (living not too far from the city) that there aren't more commercials for Broadway musicals/plays. The only ones I've seen are for Wicked, The Lion King, and Come From Away (although I do see the Cher Show Youtube ad on an hourly basis).
• saw Tootsie, Be More Chill is far better... far!
• there is magic in the air, that's what musical theater is supposed to be about
• Gerard Canonico is. not getting enough acclaim for his performance

I live in southern Connecticut, and I see Broadway TV commericals constantly. Ain't Too Proud, Aladdin, Anastasia, The Band's Visit, Be More Chill, Beautiful, Beetlejuice, The Book of Mormon, The Cher Show, Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, The Ferryman, Frozen, King Kong, The Lion King, My Fair Lady, Network, Oklahoma!, Phantom, Pretty Woman, The Prom, To Kill a Mockingbird, Waitress, and Wicked are in regular rotation, some more than others. The one that airs the most, though, is Jersey Boys.
Maybe I watch a little too much TV.
You are a very lucky person. I would love to see some of those. (I do remember seeing some Waitress when it first came out, but not anymore.)

The new Waitress commercial is Sara Bareilles interviewing people outside the Brooks Atkinson after the show. It's a little cringey.

The first 10 or 15 minutes, I thought, okay, this is funny, it might work out. But that sadly went downhill. By intermission, my opinion had wilted down to "not for me." But the opening Act II number just brought my opinion to the sub-cellar, a place from which there is no return.
I will admit, even during Act II, i did find some things funny as well, but the rest was just eye roll inducing and mind numbing. I cant even count the number of WTF looks that i got from my group.
Sigh...2 1/2 hours, I'll never get back.
How many students did you take? Was their response mixed?
Yay, Dramamama, for the reviews of your latest trip. The thumbs-down reviews are especially helpful.
Give us the list of the shows you saw so we'll know which threads to check out.
My friends and I have one slot left for our Easter Weekender in 2 weeks. Your input will help decide us.

Most of my group was negative. Some of the younger kids (freshmen) liked it. Out of my 50 kids i would guess 10-12 liked it, in varying degrees.
Many of my students were looking forward to this show the most, and it was actually tne first show chosen by an overwhelming vote.
The rest were truly baffled by how bad the show was or even how it was on B'way. Some remarked that it felt like a high school production.
Other shows we saw? Mockingbird and Kiss Me, Kate. I wrote my thoughts on Mockingbird on the review page (just adored it, as did most of my kids.
I havent written up any thoughts on KMK. Overall, we liked but didnt love it. I didnt write up anything on this show , as i had nothing new to add that hasn't already been said.
50 kids? Jeebus! Please tell me you are not the only one providing adult supervision. Thanks for what you do!
Update:: I'm not saying you’re not capable I’m just saying I’d want assistance

But, when all is said and done, it is my circus, and they are my monkeys.
Theyre good kids and we have a great time, but no way anyone should do it alone. It would be negligent. if you have an emergency, everyone would be screwed. Theres a reason all travel companies give fee trips for chaperones. (usually 1 free chaperone per 15 paying kids.)
I know the lessons were learned, but it still can make someone bad about themselves if they have bad self-esteem. Like if you are a “nerd,” then “you are terrible and you make people want to die.” I might be overthinking this, but did anyone else have that problem?
Plus, did any of the parents who took little little kids do any research on the show at all? Have fun explaining the fake sex scene to your 6 year old. That poor boy next to me covered his eyes the whole time while the mom was laughing.
The fandom insanity is real. People ranging from little children to grown adults in their 50s (which is not bad at all btw. :) I was just shocked!) decked out on BMC clothing head to toe and cosplays.
And yes, George Salazar is great and his solo was a giant highlight. He’s a lock for a Tony nom for sure!

I dont see Salazar getting nommed, i thought he was nothing but a caricature. While i realuze I'm in the minority, i cant get behind his song either. (That was the fav of many of my students) it was too long and put upon by the character himself.
