Hi, my theatre company is putting on a production of 42nd street and auditions are this summer. I dont really know how to tap dance so I was thinking of going for the role of Dorothy Brock. The only thing confusing me is that on every website I go onto it says she is an alto. However, on the 2017 London cast recording and the 2001 Broadway revival she does an extremely high soprano scale at the end of Shadow Waltz do I need to be able to do this to be able to play her? Any help or audition tips would be extremely helpful.
