Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus Previews |
Anyone in the last row balcony for this? View seems great from there but not sure how it is for this show in particular.

Honestly, the last row of the mezz is a great view for pretty much any show that plays here.

I concur. It’s a very small house (and my favorite on Broadway). Sat in last row mezz for The Boys in the Band and it was great.
I don't necessarily know how to describe what I just saw, but I loved it. Lane is fantastic, Nielsen is lovely, but White really takes this and runs with it. Utterly incredible. I will also add that the front row is a splash zone. I got covered in fake blood. Be aware if you aren't into that.
I just picked up tickets for the latter.

Do you mind saying where your rush was seat was located ?
Some really fascinating reviews here. I was leaning towards “Ink” and “Oklahoma” for the last couple of slots on my May trip, but “Gary” might just bump one to the curb.

Oh man! Do you think that extends to the second row as well?

If you are in the second row I would imagine you're safe. The left and right sides of the first row are also ok. it seemed to be only us in the center that got covered. Also while it does wash off pretty easy it did leave a pink stain on my skin... It's Julie White though so I don't care.

I didn't see anything when I was there. Granted I went on the first preview but still. All they had were souvenir sippy cups at the bar... which I ended up buying impulsively since I love the show's artwork.
Just got home from tonight’s performance....quick question for those who saw either of the first two previews:
Did they have a real baby at the end or did they just use a doll for the first previews?
Spoiler answer below.
At the first preview they used a doll.
I went into the show SO excited to see a new work from these artists. And I thought the idea of the show sounded like a total hoot. But wow, this show needs some work. The three leads are in great form and making the most out of the material they were given, but I still don't really know what this show is about. It's about maids cleaning up after a massacre, but one of them wants to put on a musical? Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, but I think my opinion was shared by much of the audience on Tuesday. There were several walk-outs (in an intermission-less show) and the ovation at the end was surprisingly tepic. only about a third of the audience stood. Lots of props, however, to the physical production...the reveal of the bodies got one of the biggest cheers. I also thought Julie White was hysterical in the supporting role. I would love to say that this one can be saved, but there would have to be a massive overhaul. I wish this one had started in a regional house and fine tuned itself. I would not recommend it.

Was also there last night, and yeah, definitely seemed like
this was the first time they used the live baby. Lane rolled with the punches nicely; seeing him walk back out with the doll was hysterical. I can't help but think that they wouldn't have had this idea if it weren't for the Ferryman.
