To save face, Mr. Trump now claims that the North Korean menace wanted sanctions lifted in their entirety. Fox News host Sean Hannity was also on hand to lift the US President’s spirits by reminding him and press pool of Reagan’s decision to walk away from the Reykjavík Summit with Gorbachev in the late 80s. Hannity went on to suggest that Trump has planted a seed for success in the long-term.

Trump has done this kind of thing at least three times - buddying up to bloody dictators and defending them from various atrocities by emphasizing the sincerity of their denials. Putin with the interference, Mohammad bin Salman with the murder, and now Kim Jong-un with this. It's truly the most bizarre spectacle I've seen during this truly bizarre presidency.
