I think what resonates with most people is the music. And there’s no denying that the talented cast does the music justice. For some people, having their favorite songs performed is enough for them, which is absolutely fine. For me, I just expect more than just some good tunes. Maybe if I was more into the music in Ain’t Too Proud, it would have been easier for me to overlook the problems. I don’t dislike the music by any means, but it is not music I listen to regularly.

I have tickets for April- gotta say I am surprised by the negative response so far- this show got great reviews out of town- and was expected to be the next Jersey Boys type hit- Wha happened???

Am super late to the party (this thread and posting in general lol) but I finally saw the show and had a GREAT time. I really hesitated and resisted since I'm one of those who HATED Jersey Boys (full disclosure: I left at intermission, but it was a lotto ticket). Yet I thought this was a FANTASTIC show. Great music, great performances. Not surprised audiences have taken to it. 

I highly recommend!!!

The feedback has been pretty good and it seems to be selling pretty well in the summer. Not really a lot of good shows out there right now so that helps. I hope it hangs in there.

To answer the thread question...this how was the “next” Jersey Boys” from the minute it was conceived...
