I just wouldn’t get my hopes up if it’s a big name. The three times I’ve waited for someone well-known, I haven’t had any luck and there are a lot of spaces to move about in there.
this is nothing less than stalking. you are asking if you can get into a space to ambush someone. really reprehensible. even worse than seeing a show and then stagedooring, which is bad enough.
I’d be very surprised if you were just able to walk in without a ticket. When Daniel Radcliffe was there you had to have a ticket to get on the line for him to sign/take photos. I wouldn’t just go in.

He's actually taking pics with people? Wow, that was a no-no at Sunday in the Park."
Uh...maybe it depended on the day. I got one with him and he was very friendly to me"
When I saw Sunday, the security personnel at The Hudson made an announcement before he came out, saying that he would sign and you could take pictures of him, but not take selfies with him.

No it is not. Why would you say something so ridiculous? No one has a right, as opposed to a license, to be there. And of course even in purely public places you can be a stalker.
Under the legal definition, going to the lobby of the Public Theater after a show to see Jake Gyllenhaal in person isn't even in the same universe as stalking. I wouldn't do it, but I certainly won't tell someone else they shouldn't or can't.

During the day when no performances are happening? Sure. But when it’s crowded with patrons who actually have tickets? Respect that and only go in if you have a ticket.

Well, one imagines the stage door scene would be when most ticketed patrons are exiting the building, not hanging out in the lobby. I mean, I still think if you like someone enough to need to stage door, figure out how to get a ticket and then do it...

It is morally equivalent. I am beyond shocked people here think any of this is cool.

As long as the front doors are unlocked, anyone may enter, go to their restaurant, sit in their mezzanine lounge, use their bar, use their restrooms, or just linger. That was the whole point of their renovation. It's not a city park, sure, but it's open to anyone.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
@Kad entry is, as everywhere that invites the public, at the discretion of management. Anyone or everyone can be kicked out at any time. Even one's presence at a show for which one has bought a ticket is a revocable license.
There is no license for just lingering. Dress up as an unbathed and drunk person sometime and see how long you last with your lingering. Yes places like the Public are liberally available and welcoming but make no mistake you are their as an invitee not by right.
I know the stage door to the public theater is inside like in the lobby but my question is do I have to have a ticket to go inside the lobby???"
When I went to go meet Gillian Jacobs they told me to wait upstairs. They have a little lounge area. There were other people waiting. It reminded me of a Starbucks
Okay I won't comment on this anymore, but on the subject of other people on this thread and people who comment on other threads, for the love of all that is good please get over yourself. I'm not saying I'm perfect (FAR FAR from it) but I don't consistently put down performers or belittle other people on these boards. It's not that hard to say something nice. Even just one comment. Enough with the superiority complexes and acting as if you all know everything. You won't unless you actually go to the Public and ASK if you can meet one of the actors. So if you haven't done that, I don't really think you can answer the OP's question, can you (and I'm sorry if this is harsh but I'm just trying to make a point about some of the people on these boards).

Actually, we can answer the OP's question, which is, "...do I have to have a ticket to go inside the lobby???" The answer is "no."

I guess we'll never find out if you can't comment anymore, but not sure who this grouping of people excludes?!
