Yeah, according to my source, that’s one of the main concerns right now. They would have to close Aladdin or Frozen to open this.
"

Um. They'd also have to some EXTREME edits because of the fact that this is affiliated primarily with Public Works and the groups aside from the Equity Actors involved...I doubt this show would come to Broadway in its current form.

I also tried and lost last night. It seemed like everyone around me was winning; they called so many numbers! They had a very organized system, there were just so many people there. I'd like to try again and would be happy to pair up. (I was thinking of going tonight, hoping that the weather might draw fewer crowds.)

I was thinking of that too! I haven't been to the Delacorte before and couldn't find it on the website but what's their weather policy like?

They'll try to go on and will hold the show as long as possible to wait for the weather to clear. I've been there where they performed through light rain, and when they stopped the show multiple times due to very bad weather but were then able to finish the performance.

They never cancel any park show before 8pm/curtain. They might hold the curtain or stop in the middle & restart where they left off. Luckily, this is 90-something minutes long so they can pull through the entirety even if there's a rain delay (unlike the 3 hours of Coriolanus where at a point you know they wouldn't be able to finish it.)

Lost tonight. HERCULES to Play the Public Theatre this summer!! It was my first night trying so I can’t say whether the crowd was smaller due to the weather, but I’d say about a third or fourth of people got tickets. They pretty continuously drew tickets from 7:10 up until about 8:15. The show (or at least speeches) started at 8:10. It does suck to hear them read numbers after number that’s not yours, and it does get dark and hard to see your ticket. I’m planning on going back on Thursday, though!

How is Jeff Hiller? having seen him in a bunch of other stuff this part seems absolutely perfect for him

Jeff did a great job with the comedic material. He has an hilarious Hamilton joke. And yes, it's what you think it is.

It was a small role, but it definitely was perfect for him; he was hilarious. laugh

Teaming up worked! CarmenA3 won the stand-by lottery tonight, and I was lucky enough to join her. Hooray for new theater friends! There were still a lot of people there tonight for the lottery; the weather didn't seem to hold anyone off (and it did turn out to be a beautiful evening). The crowd might have been slightly smaller than it was yesterday, but not by much. People did keep filtering into the theater until about 8:15pm, and it did look full.

The show was a lot of fun. It's not Broadway bound, but it was such a joyful evening and worked perfectly as a Public Works community production.

The Public has added another performance of the show tomorrow night, and is doing digital lottery, in person lottery at the public downtown, and the standby lottery at the Delacorte.  The tweet about it!

Is the Hadestown joke still in the show?

Yup!  And it fits right in.  The whole evening is very silly so it works.

Really such a joyous and fun show.   The song tempos were much slower than the film (not to mention keys were lowered) so that threw me off a bit, but otherwise had an absolute blast.  It's not perfect by any means, but it accomplishes exactly what it set out to do.

I actually had always wondered why there were two dark days this week...it was almost unnecessary, especially since they performed on Labor Day, bless them for that BTW. But you can bet I'm entering for tomorrow.

Tempo and key-changes?

Well, that seems like it would take the excitement out of the music.

You cast a show around performers who can handle the music, not the other way around

Strangely enough, the lowered keys were only for the muses' songs when they definitely didn't need it.  I mean, Ramona Keller is one of the fiercest beltresses I know of (I'm looking at you, Caroline, Or Change cast recording), so it definitely wasn't a range issue.  The tempos all around were definitely a bit sluggish, though.

The key changes (especially for Zero to Hero) was a little distracting, but it works way better here than in Hunchback where the low keys took away the songs' gravitas.

Do we think the standby lottery will be easier or harder to win tonight with this additional performance and the addition of the in-person lottery? Of course I'm entering the digital lottery, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Ahh congrats! I would have gone in person if I could have gotten out of work, haha. Debating going tonight, but I'd have to just have myself entering for one ticket since I can't find anyone else who can go tonight.
