I may try and see this before it closes. Unless Katrina Link tours it'd be amazing to see this with her. Interested in what will go into the Barrymore next! Congrats to everyone on an incredible run!

I am curious about the shortest amount of time a Best Musical Tony winner has stayed open after the awards before announcing a closing...this is interesting, no?

THE BAND'S VISIT sets closing

I mean 589 performances is an amazing run, but I wish it could've last through the summer. I'll really miss this show!

I know Hallelujah, Baby! is the only musical to close before it won the Tony for Best Musical. It ran for only 293 performances sans previews.

This makes me sad, but who can argue its success? Ten Tony Awards and recoupment for a show no one thought would fare well on Broadway. Congrats to all for such a successful run from a little show that could.

Sad to hear. Do we think Tony Shaloub will make a brief return before it's close?

My guess would be no, as last year he was out around this time for Maisel filming.

A beautiful show, glad to have fallen in love with it.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

F*ck. I was just thinking about this beautiful show yesterday.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

I sort of missed how low the grosses had become in January –– it consistently did $700-900K before Christmas, but since then has been in the $500s. A great run, though, and David Yazbek will have about a week and a half with 2 shows running simultaneously.

interesting that 2 musicals are closing this late in the season and thus precluding anything coming in before the Tony deadline. Understandable from the show's perspective (Tony run-up can be brutal for "old" shows) but I wonder what it is saying about the pipeline. .

Didn’t someone mention in the Katrina Lenk vacation thread that people would be pleasantly surprised with her replacement? Guessing that’s not going to happen anymore? I could have misread it though.

For a show with such an unusual premise to have won so many awards and found an audience is quite an accomplishment.  I think I admire the show more than I love it, but I love the fact of its very existence  and because it tried something different and challenging and succeeded, which is more than can be said for many shows.  Thanks to everyone involved for giving us 'The Band's Visit'.

What do you think?

While I could see the theater owners wanting to bring in the new ASAP, I don't think that they'd push out a Tony Award winner.

So I guess the rumor that Georgia Engel was replacing Kristina Link was fake news?

Anyone that hasn't seen this show must put it on their "MUST SEE" list before it closes, for no other reason than witnessing the magical performance by Katrina Lenk. I could not keep my eyes off of her anytime she was onstage. I have seen the show twice and will see it again before it closes. She is absolutely mesmerizing in the role!!
