I hope to see My Fair Lady booked for Hollywood Pantages or Segerstrom in Costa Mesa

I’d love to see Laura Michelle Kelly lead the tour as she did with King and I!

Also would be mad about Elena Shadow taking this out on the road. Wonder who they would cast as Henry. How are the understudies?

I am curious to see what (if any) changes are made to the design...

I thought she was marvelous as Anna.

I saw Michael Halling while Henry Hadden-Paton was on vacation, and thought he was excellent.

To those who saw the KING AND I tour, how did they modify the thrust staging/design to accommodate touring houses?

I don’t have the LCT staging to compare it to, but I thought The King and I tour was lovely. The production still felt very big and grand on a traditional proscenium stage.

Re: Elena Shaddow:

I saw her as Anna after LMK left and she was just stunning. I honestly don’t know why that lady isn’t the lead in a broadway show right now. Elena’s take on Eliza would be nothing short of stunning, I’m sure.

To the naked eye, King and I tour design looked nearly identical to the Broadway show, and it played well in a proscenium space. They still had the boat, though the orchestra pit did not get revealed during the Overture (same with South Pacific tour).

My biggest questions re: the physical production are: (1) can they still spin the house set, and (2) can they pull off the Act 2 opening with touring musicians and different pit setups?

Kerstin Anderson is amazing in the role! I know she was Maria in The Sound Of Music tour and I think she should go back on the road to lead My Fair Lady.

My guess would be that the Higgins house gets reduced down to the main study section and the revolve is eliminated to ensure they have the necessary depth to still travel it up and down stage, as well as reduce load in/out time and conserve truck space.

My thoughts exactly. I can't imagine many touring houses have the depth necessary to house the entire Higgins home set currently at the Beaumont.

Agreed about the sets. That Higgins set is massive.

I also wonder if they might adjust the show at all. When I saw it a couple weeks ago, it ran close to 3 hours.

Plenty of almost-3-hour shows have toured successfully. (Rodgers & Hammerstein, Les Mis, Fiddler, and other productions of My Fair Lady)

^^ The tour of King and I had pretty smooth pacing
