Ive been on a huge Aida kick lately and just think about it. The absolute brilliance. Could also give Heather another Tony and her long overdue chance to once again originate (not create however to clarify) in a Broadway show.

It's interesting the first actor gets the distinction of 'creating' a role in addition to originating....I always thought it was the writers that created the role! And in some cases, it's the Director that helps create the performance too. I'm not trying to downplay the role of actors, but I do cringe a little bit when actors or fans describe them as creating the role. With the few exceptions of course of a writer staring in a role (Lin Manuel; Sara etc.) who truly did create it. Am I wrong?

Anyway, I'm sure this would be a good cast. But I suspect it's going to be a real challenge reviving this show without a 'star'.

"It’s the fractured quality in [Bernadette Peters'] singing voice and line readings that puts across the character as someone for whom resentment is sliding into madness." - NYtimes on Follies (2011).

Good as they both might be, neither is enough for box office.  There wasn't exactly a stampede to the box office when Pascal was announced for a week in PRETTY WOMAN.

Musical Theatre Star does not = STAR

Does next to normal need a star? I think its a pretty popular title to garuntee at least a year run. Its not like its that expensive to operate as well. Maybe Adam alone couldnt sell pretty woman, but if you tag heather alongside him theatre fans would start flocking! I would love to see a next to normal revival and these two would be amazing. Im curious to see how the David Cromer/Writers theatre production will look. Hopefully that has some NY aspirations or at least inspires an NY revival.
