Yay!!! This is great news! :)
And yes, I agree with your opinion about that tracklist/ "clips" of songs.
I can't wait to listen to it!

and thats relevant to this cast recording thread how?
Now I wish that Jagged Little Pill was a bio-musical, just to see who would play Dave Coulier
Just to be clear, I LOVE Stephanie J. Block. In fact, I just rewatched FALSETTOS on the dvr for the umpteenth time.
But I wonder what people expect to get from THE CHER SHOW OBCR that they can't get from Cher's actual recordings? I have THE JERSEY BOYS OBCR, but I'm more likely to listen to a Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons greatest hit recording.
And I wouldn't dream of listening to MAMMA MIA instead of ABBA GOLD.

Speaking for myself here— after seeing the show all I wanted was a cast recording. I barely listened to Cher’s music before seeing the show but went back to listen to her greatest hits because that’s all I had access to but I found myself dying to just hear Micaela’s Beat Goes On instead

This is exactly how I feel about most of the songs from the show.

I do feel differently about musicals using the music to tell a story. I can enjoy both the original source and the cast recording.
Michaela’s “The Beat Goes On” awaits. Now THAT is a Broadway debut everyone is singling out. Most recently, Lucie Arnaz did.
FUNNY GIRL starring Michaela Diamond? Yes, please. She fits ALL of the Fanny Brice criteria as well as the vocal and acting demands.
- “Heart of Stone” is just so awkward in the whole context. Someone listening to the album who hasn’t seen the show is probably going to wonder why the hell is Lucille Ball making a cameo in this.
- Emily Skinner’s intro for “Half Breed” was omitted and I’m kind of sad because it was a great lead in.
There are still many highlights, especially the longer numbers/vignettes. My favorite was “When The Money’s Gone/All Or Nothing”
Stephanie is unmatchable, and Micaela is truly a Star (no pun intended) on the rise. Teal does her best, but she very much blends in with Stephanie and is missing a certain trademark that distinguishes her as a separate voice. Also, Jarrod Spector as Sonny sounds great, but once or twice almost pops into a Jersey Boys accent. (I can’t remeber exactly where).
TL; DR - You’ll be satisfied, especially if you are a fan, even if the numbers are sadly truncated
I just started listening, but I'm also pretty upset they didn't record Skinner's section of "Half Breed".
Just listened on Amazon. Save for a few moments, it just makes me want to listen to Cher. Sounds like some Vegas tribute act. I long to hear Micaela sing some original material. SJB sounds sensational.
It's sung well, but not particularly impressive.
And the three varying Cher "accents" are distracting on the recording. They don't really sound like Cher and more like they are chewing or have Bell's Palsy. I didn't care for it.
I’ve not seen this show yet but this recording is really fun.
Block sounds sensational.. and Michaela Diamond . not sure what Emily Skinner is going for though, is she better In the context of the show?
LOVE The beat goes on.. that alone makes me want to see the show. Like TINA though, it’s really hard to get excited about people impersonating the performers on a recording- it just makes me want to hear the real thing.

“The Beat Goes On” is as spectacular on stage as it sounds on the cast recording. As Michaela (as Babe) sings and tells the tidbits, Stephanie (as Star) rises out of the stage in the legendary gowns Cher has worn at the Oscars. It’s such a well crafted number that genuinely builds fabulously.
As for Emily Skinner’s Lucille Ball in “Heart of Stone”, she sings this after she gives Cher career advice on transitioning as a major solo artist after leaving Sonny (as she did when she divorced Desi Arnaz). Sadly, Emily made no effort in capturing Lucille Ball’s famous husky/smoky/raspy voice but chose to do a loud brassy broad interpretation.

Seen the show several times, loved it in Chicago, liked it in NYC, but not a fan of this recording. Why would I want to listen to half of Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, when I can listen to the whole song, on the same device, within seconds. I will admit to have lipsynched for my life and stomped down the supermarket aisle to The Beat Goes On, however.
As I just posted on another thread, I can't stop listening to the mash-up of When the Money's Gone and All or Nothing. I love the slot machine sounds, and great memory of the showgirls and Teal's and Jarrod's quick changes.
The 11 O'Clock Number -- You Haven't Seen the Last of Me -- is also awesome.
As much as I love the show, I sense I will soon burn-out on the recording. But I'm enjoying it alot right now!
