Well this is a tad disappointing, but I mean if they cast Andrew Keenan Bolger, Jeremy Pope, Derek Klena or Andy Karl I'll be there.

I wish they had a team that was a bit more exciting for this.

Can we just have a top notch revival of The Full Monty instead?

I mean... I think this is a pretty exciting team. And saying "from the creators of Next to Normal, If/Then, 13 Reasons Why, and Riverdale" will probably sell it.

Emerson is holding back every seat in the first 5 rows for every performance. Quite frustrating.

Could that be related to uncertainty about stage set up?

Usually. A lot of Broadway shows release a row or two near the stage right before previews for the same reason. Either because they don't know if the stage will extend into the orchestra or they don't know how the visibility will be from those seats, so they want to be sure to price them appropriately (cheaper, regular, or premium)

That's my guess, yes. The movie had them dancing into the crowd a bit, and I'd be shocked if that isn't the case with this show.

In all seriousness, who do we want cast for this?

It will never happen, but Matt Bomer again please.

I know this was last workshopped with Matt Doyle, Cheyenne Jackson, John Behlmann, Derek Klena, Heath Calvert, Nick Burroughs, and Dyllon Burnside.

So the "Magic Mike" musical is actually happening.

Funny - weren't we just talking about another musical that is being created solely for the purpose of making gads of money yesterday?

Happy that the Colonial is getting another pre- broadway tryout. Not so happy with the pricing, seems high for pre broadway  previews. I know they want to recoup the renovation, however expecting these prices a year in advance for something brand new without any casting announced ! Disappointing. Guess I've been spoiled by pre Broadway tryouts at the American Repertory. I did go to Moulin Rouge the final weekend and it was worth it, however for Magic Mikke, Really!

Funny too, how some people cannot grasp the concept that the purpose of commercial theatre is making gads of money.  It's a BUSINESS!

Cullman is a handsome guy, but he's been using that picture of himself for like ten years.

It amuses me how both The Full Monty and Magic Mike's stories seem aimed at straight men. As a gay audience member I feel like Broadway Bares caters to me more than the story about the homophobic steel worker or the guy who wants to make furniture and settle down with a nice girl.

It's worth remembering that the original film was both a commercial and critical hit.

I can pretty much guarantee you that the "straight" guys buying tickets to either of those shows aren't going to see them for those plot lines.

No they're going for the stripping but people forget how little stripping there is in either Mike film or in any incarnation of The Full Monty. You still have to sit through 100 minutes of angst for your 10-15 minutes of eye candy. The Mike musical might be different.

Such crap.  They should stick to Vegas where it will always sell.  If they are selling the dramatic part of that terrible film, it will fail immediately.

Not everything can be high art like Memphis, I guess.

God, shut up. I never said anything was high art, I said I loved Memphis.  I can love Memphis and think this is a terrible idea.
