Hello everybody! Since BroadwayWorld had an article on this, I wanted to out myself and say that I am a contestant on the new competition show Mental Samurai! I hope y'all tune in 2/26.
I hope you do (did?) well, but that description sounds awful.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Thank you, dramamama! It was not as wild as it sounds. We were basically strapped into what reminded me of an amusement park ride and had to answer questions.
The contestants were all fascinating people. There were former MMA fighters, astronauts, doctors, an engineer who became a lawyer, etc.
I'll be sure to nudge the boards when my episode airs.
Lol....somehow you match the very image I had of you!

Congratulations on your win. I missed the first 10 minutes and thought possibly I had missed you. But there you were in the preview before the commercial. I think that your total winnings should have been $60,000. They should have included the $10,000 you won in the first round. Unfortunately, I'm not in to game shows, so I won't watch again in the future. But I hope it is a hit so you can compete in the finals. I mean if that awful Masked Singer can get the ratings it did, this show should do alright. Rob Lowe was a likeable host. I would like to know about the process you took to get onto the show. What was involved?

Thank you all for watching! We have already taped the Finale. So at least tune in for that!
I found the application through a Facebook ad. It asked questions like, "Do you like mind games?" and I would answer, "Not really, but I have a lot of experience from my ex." and they'd eat it up! I went through an entire process of speaking to casting agents and Fox producers. It took about 5-6 interviews? I filmed this in October.
And, to be honest, there's no way I am gonna complain about the $50,000! Tickets to The Music Man, here I come!
So where did you speak to the casting directors and Fox producers? Were you flown in each time and put up in a hotel? Were you ever able to meet the other contestants? Was Rob Lowe friendly when the camera wasn't on? How long did it take to tape your segment? I am generally interested. Although strangers, you are the first person I am aware of recently to appear on a show and win. Years ago, I met a flight attendant at my then apartment complex, who told me she went on The Price Is Right and won the big showcase. I was cautious about what she was saying, until weeks later I saw her episode. Also I had an acquaintance appear on the Jerry Springer Show, in bad drag, and verified that the stories were all made up by the producers. Not sure about now, but then, they took a few bits of the truth, then made up another scenario.
All of my interviews were done by Skype and phone call. They played a practice round with me.
Then they flew me out in October and kept me in a hotel room. Rob's nature was a game show host, we didn't speak when the cameras were off and wasn't expecting him to, but he was very friendly. And my segment took about 45 minutes. I believe they filmed about 120 contestants all together. Not sure how many they'll put on the show.
Very happy for you, and Ill tune in for the finale to cheer you on...but youll have to tell me when as I'm probably not going to tune it.
(I found the time eaten by both waiting for the computer to verify answers and the flying time to be infuriating. Plays lost at least 5 seconds EACH time. I also did not care for Rob Lowe or the manner in which the other contestants were dismissed.)

I agree. Had Sassy Sam not won his round, I would have said this was nearly impossible due to the number of questions and amount of time required. It seems, to me, that much needed time is wasted just arriving to the question and then reading the question. If you just total up that time, the contestant overall is losing a minute of their time. I know he stated he did not care about the first round money, but if this show becomes popular, I bet they make a change to their policy. It makes the show look cheap. I will watch his finale, but have no future interest in this.
