The senior members of this group might recall a poster named "BroadwayLady". She lived in New Jersey and was always organizing theater trips for her various organizations. She and I always exchanged Christmas cards but this year the card I sent her came back to me stamped "Deceased".

May she rest in peace

That is so insensitive of the post office to return a letter with that stamped over it or even from the person who now has BroadwayLadys' address.

'Return to sender' is the norm, not a public statement of your current state of health.

Quite frankly, I was glad to be notified one way or the other. For years I'd been sending cards to a distant cousin without being notified she had passed. Her children, who now live at that address, were too lazy to notify me.

No, this is something the post office got right.
