I don't quite get why people would be protesting a Broadway musical unless they protest Lin as being a liberal. I also think it is odd that this happened at the last minute.
At any rate I am glad I got tickets for the third week and not during the previews.

The protests have to do with budget costs in the university . The police are also not aloud to provide security on campus for the cast or audience. But I agree with you. I don’t get the “last minute “ aspect of this.

Oh I see. That makes sense. I did hear that since the sets had already gone into the university theatre a lot of upgrades and improvements were made that will benefit the theatre for future usage so I thought that was pretty cool.

Obviously. Paying to load in a show, only to move it to a nearby venue and reschedule performances is a textbook public relations tactic.
It sounds like the school wasn't totally upfront as to the nature of the protests. It's not even as if the protests are about Lin, but if the school has been cutting budgets while making this possible the optics aren't great for them. My guess is as more protests were heard of and organized, coupled with the police unable to provide protection inside the campus, led to the change.
And the whole thing started tracking even more on social media in the past couple of months creating a real security concern. The Bellas Artes theater is really nice. I think it all works out for the best.
