The Prom has pretty much been on TDF only on weeknights, so if you are planning to go on a weekend you may want to buy tix in advance.
For choir boy.

My son (coming with me) IS under 35. If the account is under HIS name (which I gather it must be) can I still be the one that purchases the tix (my credit card)?

As long as it is his account and under 35 you’ll be just fine. My friend, who is over 35, purchased our tickets to The Little Foxes under my account and we had no issue.

So, it took nearly a week (due to the Holiday, I'm sure) I finally got my son's 30 under 35 account confirmed. Immediately checked for tix for Choir Boy for the only spot we had available and KA-CHING! First row of the mezz, our favorite place to sit! I KNOW those tix weren't available using the discount code!
Thanks for all the info, and esp the tip for this!
Other than the TKTS booth and TodayTix is there any good way to get cheap last minute tickets? Ive never rushed a show, but it just seems like you show up at the BO at open right? Is it worth it to look for cheap seats at the BO? I remember seeing someone say they got cheap Harry Potter tickets that way

Yeah I went there, I plan on entering all the lotteries while I’m there, just didn’t know if there were other ways I may not be aware of
For rush, technically yes you would show up at the box office when it opens, but they normally only have a limited number of tickets so depending on how popular a show is, you might want to show up anywhere between 30 minutes to a couple hours before opening (you can look up rush reports on bww for a specific show to see how early you might want to show up), though keep in mind that not every show offers rush.
If you're interested in Harry Potter, while they don't have rush, I've gotten tickets from the box office that definitely weren't listed online ($40 per part in the balcony or $80 per part in box seats), though this was a couple of weeks prior to the show date rather than the same day.

And I forgot to mention: NO SERVICE FEES with 30 under 35! Wow, what a pleasant suprise!
