Does anyone know if Sam Pauly will be back when the show opens on Friday?
"

Sam Pauly is fine and performed the full show a few times before the end of Edmonton! Courtney Mack is now an alternate and will take over the three tracks previously covered by Mallory. She will continue with the Broadway production so each alternate only has 2 main covers.

Funny you say that, because I just saw that Courtney Mack is rehearsing for Boleyn. So the alternates are:

Courtney: Howard/Boleyn

Nicole: Cleves/Aragon

Mallory: Seymour/Parr

How physically demanding is this show? The standbys were on quiet frequently during the Chicago run. They might need to have 6 standbys on Broadway.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

The standbys actually weren't on that often in Chicago. Only when Adrianna left two weeks early, and a few other incidents here and there. Lots of the Queens got injured in Edmonton which led to a lot absences.

They're all on stage the whole 80 minute show. It is (apart from the ballad) non stop Rhythm Nation lite formation style choreography, though nothing terribly difficult, but it would still be a pretty intense workout. There's lots of popping and jerking and dropping which I guess is where all the injuries come from. Some of the London girls have had the same problem.

Yeah, this has happened in London as well. For one performance, Toby Marlow stepped in to play Parr because almost the entire cast was ill or injured. Genesis Lynea and Renee Lamb have also stepped in when necessary. Now London has three alternates and a swing (Colette Guitart) that could play all six roles. Maybe the Broadway cast should institute a similar system as the "concert performance" contingency plan isn't great for people who bought tickets to see the full show.

They were also able to rebook another free full performance though on top of seeing the concert version.

That's fair, but Broadway caters to tourists who might not have the ability to simply rebook at a later date.

First preview in St. Paul tonight - Nicole was on for Cleves

Also, doesn’t appear MEGASIX filming will be allowed (not that it stopped a rogue fan in the front row)

Missed Pauly the first time around and while I enjoyed Mack I totally see why Pauly was so well reviewed. She’s pretty fantastic. The show is in such a great shape - can’t wait for a OCR with this cast.

Saw the show last night and it was really excellent. Lived up to all the hype for sure! I was hoping to see Abby, but her understudy was very good! I was very upset that there is no filming of the MEGASIX, as that was one of the things I was looking forward to. The band was great too - the music director/keyboardist looked like she was having more fun than the queens onstage, which you rarely see, but it was infectious! I have to call out "All You Wanna Do" and the staging/performance of that number. I was SO impressed by how that was treated onstage (and that's all I'll say about it).

I think SIX will become an extremely popular title for a very long time. High schools & community theatres are going to love this when it finally becomes available. I can't wait for the movie - I can already see the cast - Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, Imelda Staunton, and Barbra's return to form as Anna Of Cleves!!!

Only two pieces of feedback... (1) The Ordway prices are the absolute most I would pay for tickets, those B'way prices are going to kill the show as others have said! I wonder if Off-B'way might have been a better idea for this one. (2) I felt there was some trepidation in the cast and these queens have to DOMINATE that stage. But I'm guessing a bit more confidence will come with more performances under their belt.

I watched a Instagram Live last week with Sam Pauly and Brittney Mack and they said they heard there are going to be some changes to Broadway! They said they knew they were all getting new costumes, that would be a little easier to wash, and that the show would be "bigger."

Considering a lot of press has been done with them in their current costumes, I have a feeling the costumes will look the same, but use different fabric to ease with the wash, but wonder how they are going to make the show "bigger." Maybe a different set? Utilize LED screens?

Either way I'm excited to see this again on Broadway!

Wonder if the Broadway production will have more standbys or have each standby cover more than 2 roles? Somewhat similar to Come From Away, small cast show but the standbys cover 4/5 "tracks". Come From Away has had up to 9 standbys hired, usually the extra standbys are during a heightened vacation time with the cast.

I can't see them changing the costume design but perhaps altering the construction. I also can VERY much see them doing away with the "alternates" costumes on Broadway and everyone getting their own set of costumes for all the roles they cover. As much as I LOVE the concept of each girl getting their own personal look, it does in many ways highlight the fact that "HEY! HEY! THERE IS AN UNDERSTUDY ON! LOOK! LOOK AT THE UNDERSTUDY!" when they are on. I can see them trying to keep a unified look at all times so that means matching costumes for all. And I can't lie that I have felt that some of the alternate looks have been LESS then flattering on their performer. Vicki looks SO much better in the actual K Howard costume then she EVER looked in those blue short shorts that was her old alternate costume.

I don't understand what is going on with not permitting filming of the MegaSix.  You could film in Chicago, but not Cambridge. There was some discussion that the ban was due to a musician's union - all I recall is the producers were in discussions to allow filming - but filming never was permitted. Now, St. Paul?

The MegaSix filming is a wonderful piece of publicity for the show.  So, I do wonder what will happen on Broadway.

They've announced three so far (the three that are currently with the show - there were only two, but Courtney Mack was brought on as a standby after covering Kat Howard). I do wonder if they will bring on at least one more - it seems risky to only have coverage for half of the cast!

I think they should absolutely do this! Sure, maybe slightly modify the design so it's more flattering for that particular actress. But I really don't like how they do the understudies costumes now - especially Mallory's. She has an all-black look, which didn't make sense when she was on for someone other than Jane Seymore since each other queen has a distinct color. I love her and her costume, but I don't think it seamlessly fits into the show.

Stick in the mud here - I prefer that everyone not have their brightly-lit phones out and their arms extended. Would rather watch the show than watch someone else recording it.

They’ve run into the same problem with the musician’s union in St. Paul.

Re: the alternates. The London production has four, so I could see them bringing another one on for Broadway. Each has two that they are “first cover” for, but all will eventually learn all six queens.

I don’t mind the alternate costumes in general, lately, at least in the UK and cruise versions, they’ve been making them alternate colored character specific ones that look more like the principal costume, which is pretty cool. The only one I do not like is Nicole’s when she’s on as Aragon cause she is also in blue and in pants and it’s basically Anna’s costume as Parr and it just looks like there are two Parrs on stage. LOL

Anyone know if Brittany Mack is due back soon? She was out all weekend.

I had a feeling the musicians union here would nix the filming of the Megasix, it’s a fairly staunch group...which is good for their members, I’m just being selfish wanting to see videos from this stop :)

Saw it this weekend and was very happy to see tat the show just keeps getting more polished as it goes. The cast did real well in MN, but I will say I missed Abby. I thought the understudy's costume didn't help her at all and just kind of felt out of character for Jane so count me in as one that would wish them to have a full set of costumes for each. I adore they did Jane with a sweetheart neckline to go in line with her being in love but it could be hemmed up an inch or three.  Speaking with the band out side they said the girls are working their buts off and that if they were going to take any downtime to heal this was the time in the run to do it. I have tickers for march so very happy to see them in their new home in NYC.

Per a posting on Playbill’s job board today, they’ll be hiring one additional alternate for the Broadway production (bringing them to a total of four).

Probably for the best. The show is playing with fire right now only having three alternates. Last night Courtney Mack went on as Boleyn, Nicole as Cleves, and Mallory as Seymour.

Interesting to note that Courtney wore the Boleyn costume. It's very possible each alternate is getting a set of costumes for the role they cover.
