Hi... sorry everyone. I meant to post this a while ago. Did anybody attend the final performance of Amanda Jane Cooper of WICKED that could elaborate on it? Dying to know the details... she was great in the role!!

I was there and sure

Show started with No One Mourns the Wicked. Act one ended with Defying Gravity. All is well at the end of Act 2.

She was great as Glinda. She will be missed.

The end.

Am I the only one that didn't care for her Glinda? I thought she acted and looked fine... very much evoking Kristin Chenoweth, but both times I saw her in the show her vocals were severely lacking. She didn't have much power or resonance in any range of her voice. Popular was her best song.

Evidentally the op was wondering if anything special happened. I remember Chenoweth threw in a few extra things.

I think many would agree that her Glinda was very weak. She had the serious parts down but the comedy wasn’t there and like you said not a strong voice.

Saw her 8 times. The weakest Glinda I’ve seen out of nine Glinda’s... she’s such a nice person but her performance was so weak and her voice did not hold up to standards of any other Glinda I’ve seen. As mentioned, I agree the comedy was not there and neither were the vocals. Katie rose Clarke, the new Glinda, is fabulous.

No nothing happened during her final performance. No speech etc. Jessica thou...a little over hyped. Dan was on for Fiyero, he was excellent

Definitely not my favourite. I’ve seen the show four times, and two of those were with Amanda as Glinda. She’s just kind of there. Serviceable is probably a good word. She was fine on the tour, but on broadway with Jackie Burns she floundered. I’m also not a big fan of Glindas who reuse previous Glinda inflections constantly. I know it’s hard considering how old the show is, but I do get tired of the Ali Mauzey *grab your leg and lift it to your forehead with a “yesssss”*.

She was incredibly weak, especially next to Jessica Vosk.

Looking forward to catching Katie Rose Clark in the role.

I consider myself a big fan of hers but I’m willing to admit she did not by any means sing the role the best. She is one of the weakest Glindas in that regard. However, her comedic timing and acting chops during the serious moments in the show really shines through! She will be missed. I did love her Glinda, despite the flaws.

Fellow Ozians...part-rhetorical, part-genuinely curious: I never saw AJC as "Glinda" but...why such a healthy tenure in Wicked given such an uneven performance (at least according to the majority of posts above)?

She had the support of Stephen Schwartz for the role, toured with the show, made the move to the Broadway in a lengthy contract, and helmed Wicked's fifteenth anniversary.  Was it potential never realized?  Again, just fascinated & curious.

Yes, exactly. Thank you. It wasn’t my intention to have this become a Cooper-bashing Ground (I thought she was lovely in the role, and played great off Queen Vosk!), but... que sera. Thanks for answering!!

Gonna add my two cents in here - absolutely love this show and have been fortunate enough to see some really phenomenal people play Glinda as I have been seeing it with decent regularity since 2005.  From a completely objective standpoint, is Amanda the greatest singer to play Glinda? No.  But, at least to me, she has a strong integrity as an actress.  Her faces, her very real tears, and watching her mature throughout the show was actually kind of beautiful to watch.  Her Glinda to me has a beating heart, worn on her sleeve.  Obviously taste is completely subjective so to those who don't care for her performance - that's your view!  But I do feel the need to defend her because I think she's fabulous!

Katie Rose Clarke is brilliant and it's wonderful to have her back!

Glindas would be doing audiences a favor by revisiting Jennifer Laura Thompson and Megan Hilty (early Broadway run, that is, before she became too hyper)
