I’m thrilled to hear Lea is returning, but I hope Michelle is doing all right.

Those who are getting Cassondra James are in for a real treat though. I thought she was absolutely stellar, had a beautiful voice, and look gorgeous in those costumes

Sad to hear she only did 3 shows. What if the show wasn't closing, they'd be in a tough situation to replace her for a long stint. Reminds me of the LA CAGE situation with Jeffrey Tambour.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Hi all - We're hoping that we can keep this thread about her performance, and not about the personal life of the performer in question, since other than she's left the show at the advice of her doctor - she hasn't addressed anything publicly.

We welcome discussions about mental health and the workplace, but I think that's best suited to the off-topic board. Thanks.

How many performances did she do? And to anyone who saw her, was she any good?

She's been promoting new music on social media everyday so I'm wondering if coupled with her engagement breaking off this could have anything to do with record label obligations? I can't imagine seeing her back on Broadway anytime soon if the rumors of the crew being unable to contact her are true.

If you welcome discussions about mental health in the workplace, then why did the whole situation with discussing Patti murins mental health go down.

All of those posts were removed, but we can only address one post at a time, so it can take a few minutes for us to read through and respond to everything.

As for the questions about mental health discussions: we absolutely welcome those. Our previous post mentioned mental health issues in the workplace as being appropriate for the Off-Topic board, but if you want to talk about these things specifically in the theatre as a broad general subject, that would probably be appropriate on the main board.

However, what is not appropriate, either in this thread or any of the ones that were at the center of the issues on Sunday, is speculating about anyone else's mental health, especially when it is done in a negative and/or accusatory way. Whether that is assuming that previously discussed mental health issues were connected to departing a job early, or in theorizing that openly discussed mental health struggles were a false cover for being lazy. Those types of mental health discussions are not acceptable.

If you want to discuss things that artists have said about their mental health, as long as it stays focused on what is actually said, and doesn't cross the line, those are fine conversations to have. However, almost every time that those topics are discussed, it devolves into wild speculation and insults, either at artists or other posters.

So, with these topics, and those of other hot-button issues, we will be keeping an extra close eye on them to make sure that they don't get out of hand. If you have any other questions, feel free to email us at moderator[at]broadwayworld[dot]com, so that we don't clog up this thread.

I was looking forward to seeing her in OOTI, she is an incredibly gifted performer. I wish her all the best. It cannot be easy dealing with the demise of a relationship, especially one that was lived so publicly via her OWN reality show. I do hope she is receiving all the love, compassion and understanding she needs to get through this and focuses on getting better.

Question for the mods just so I can know going forward — we can’t even link to news articles where an actres herself reveals she’s had mental health problems?

Yes, we can link to articles where people discuss their mental health. But it's not appropriate continue the conversation beyond what they’ve stated. So in a thread about someone’s performance or departure from a show, that would be off topic and not relevant to the discussion if they haven’t stated it publicly as the reason for their departure. And in the context of discussions on mental health, we can’t infer or imply anything beyond what has been stated by the person in question.

She has openly talked about her mental health issues, so we can have a discussion about them as well.  Censoring that is goddamned ridiculous.  Seriously mods, go back and look at people literally starting threads to bash other users on this board.  No,really, go.

Should have posted it on the OT board, I guess.

Wish her the best, but that sucks that the show had to scramble in their final weeks to deal with this.

You are correct, LuPita2, Williams has discussed her history of battling depression in the past, which you are free to post about. However, she has not discussed her mental health issues having any impact in her decision to depart "Once on this Island."

If/when she does, that would be a perfectly fine subject to broach. Until that time, making assumptions that those two things are connected is not acceptable on this board. At its heart, that is what began the issues and disagreements on Sunday night. We've posted about this differentiation a few times today, but if you have further questions, you are welcome to PM us, or email us at moderator[at]broadwayworld[dot]com.

As always, in terms of old threads/posts that you think violate rules, please report those threads and/or posts, and we will gladly take a look at them.

Patti Murin has discussed her Anexity in blog posts and national news have picked up on it.

We were never given the option to discuss it. The threads were deleted rather quickly. Even though, rude comments were said, they never happened that early as the threadw vaniashed very fast.

Why is it, that you said we can not discuss mental health, but with michelle we are allowed to?

Something isn’t adding up here.

So as long as we keep it respectful we can discuss Patti Murin on the OT boards?

First, this is fundamentally not true. Murin's openness with her mental health struggles has long been a topic for this board, and when the conversations stuck to the things that she had publicly discussed, that was fine.

As we have now said – directly and indirectly – multiple times today, the problems that caused the mini-firestorm on Sunday night was a handful of users attempting to extrapolate what she had said publicly and branch off into potentially libelous speculation. In response, admittedly, we removed posts that didn't violate this rule because of a barrage of posts on those threads that became impossible to address individually in real time.

Users have always been welcome to discuss things that have been publicly stated. But, let me be very clear – because I don't want there to be any confusion – on the topic of mental health, if a poster tries to use someone's statements about their mental health to make unconfirmed assumptions, or as a means to attack that person (which was done quite a bit on Sunday night), it will not be tolerated.

You can agree or disagree as to whether or not you think either of those things happened, but I would hope that most fair-minded people can understand how that could become insensitive, inaccurate, and potentially damaging.

As we have said before, if you have further questions, you are welcome to PM us, or email us at moderator[at]broadwayworld[dot]com. We would like to get this thread back on topic, and we have stated our position, so if you want to continue this line of discussion, please contact us directly. We genuinely appreciate the good-faith questions and feedback.
