How long do The Prom, Anastasia & Beautiful have left? Possible new spring shows in those theaters ?
RUBEN & CLAY - 11.7% oh

Given the non-advance that The Prom had, I think it is heading in the right direction. If word of mouth builds, this could be a sleeper. It is not the same as HOH, Amazing Grace, Honeymoon in Vegas, Disaster, most of OOTI's run, et al, whose producers kept pouring money down the drain for reasons only they know. Its grosses have been slowly building, and I am guessing that it probably made its nut the past two weeks. Also, the longer it runs, the more likely it is to become a staple in community theaters, colleges, etc.

I'm wondering the same thing about The Prom. The numbers aren't good. BUT. They're improving slowly and steadily. And word of mouth seems largely positive. Even people who don't like it don't seem to hate it. I really think it could go either way. It might build up an enthusiastic fan base who can keep it going for a nice run. Or it might crash after the holidays. It's walking a razor's edge, but I think it has a chance. I'm really rooting for it...even though I still haven't seen it. So...it'll sell at least one more ticket in the coming weeks. :)

Isn’t this worse than even Home for The Holidays dipped last year?

We'll have to wait until next week to compare since they only did 5 shows. For the remainder of their run, they're doing 8 shows/week.
HFTH never got above 6%

You can look up the history of any show.
But Hogan is right, it actually did worse.

I don't understand why The Prom isn't growing. The ads are everywhere with great quotes. What gives?

I think it is....but very slowly. The weekends seem to sell VERY well.

THE PROM could be this year's HONEYMOON IN VEGAS: Musical comedy, NYTimes Critics Pick, performed on the Parade, good buzz, but ultimately sales don't take off. (Though I think PROM is a better show, and its sales aren't quite as bad as HONEYMOON.)

Because it's not great. THE BAND'S VISIT isn't big but it's great. It's topical and incredibly special. A special night on Broadway. THE PROM is small, with a niche topic (sorry my fellow gays and lesbians) that tries to expand into bullying as the theme rather than homophobia, yet fails at growing it into a MUST SEE in any way. And I LIKED it.
Will I ever want to see it again? No. Am I humming any of the score? No.
Winter is coming. You know what that means? JANUARY.

Without being privy to advance box office numbers, It seems % of gross potential seems to be the most reliable....and the Prom's is nowhere NEAR as bad as shows that close in a month or two. Granted, 50% for a new show isn't great (whereas an ancient show that's already made money can limp along at 50 for a good while). But it's nowhere near, say, Lysistrata Jones territory, where people should immediately be asking "When will it close?"
Maybe I'm just being optimistic because I hope to see it in April!
