Has anyone seen it?  BWW's review is intriguing.

It’s fantastic. Provocative in every sense.

The Times review is by Jesse Green, not Brantley.

It's a good play, intelligently staged and extremely well acted. Worth making the effort for.

Looks like they raised the prices after the rave reviews.  The date I was looking at went from $69 to $79.  Looks like they are selling very well.  A few weeks ago, there were plenty of seats for later dates in the run.  Now, those dates are close to sell outs.

Yes, there was also a 20% off code from an earlier mailer that doesn't seem to be working either.

The less you know about it the better.  Just go see it.

Even with the price increase, it looks like the entire run including the extended dates are all sold out.   I wonder if they'll extend again.

SLAVE PLAY is currently running through January 13 and their next show (HURRICANE DIANE) begins on February 6...I wonder if they would try to move it to another space for an extension like they did with WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME.

I was just thinking that today. The rest of the run is sold out--this is much more of a success than CONSTITUTION is. I really hope it gets extended. I saw it in previews and was blown away, and I would love to see it again.

What the Vulture review describes as "psychosexual extremes" seems like a bit much but I'd love to see Paul Nolan in a challenging show even if it isn't a musical. The run is sold out but the material sounds too challenging for a general audience. Shame as I'd like it to move elsewhere so I can see it.

It's a brilliant piece of theater for a very sophisticated audience. I am thrilled it got enough press to sell out the rest of the run.

what a stunningly brilliant piece of theater this is, the second act is hands down one of the most shocking and dfsturbing sections of writing ive ever seen and it involves little more then chairs and human bodies

the folks throwing a fit on twitter at Harris that havent even seen it are insane and absurd

I wonder if there are folks who have seen it and disliked it as much as I did who just don't want to say so. I found it almost intolerably dull, confused and self-indulgent. A very young writer's attempt to do something big and scary but with very little to really offer that's genuinely insightful and a great deal of patience for saying variations on the same thing over and over again. I realize it's virtual heresy to say so, but this isn't a good play -- and is barely even a play at all. But it does take over two hours.

@yfs

I see where youre coming from. I dont share your strong negative feelings, but I also didnt love it as much as everyone here. I fell somewhere in between. I think other Playwrights like Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and even Robert OHara (who directed this show) have written plays with a similar theatrical approach, and had more success. This one felt more unwieldy and unfocused to me. But it IS an approach to theatre that I like, and I think the themes he was exploring were unusual and fascinatingly disturbing enough to make me leave feeling like it was worthwhile.

I agree with everything you're saying. I think it's bold and throws down some big and really interesting questions in a very theatrical gesture. I just think the play that emerges is pretty bad and undisciplined. Doesn't mean he won't write better ones.

Has anyone been able to rush or use the Cancellation Line for Slave Play? I'm dying to see it this week, thanks!

Just saw the matinee today. Its a play that makes you go "hmmmmm". Little bit over hyped. The actors were great, but I really don't see this transferring. 2:15 minutes no Intermission.

I saw yesterdays matinee. I thought Id sleep on it, to work out how I felt about it. My opinion is mixed. I felt that the performances were great. The ensemble was so strong, that I thought it was worth it, for that reason alone. The piece itself, though, was the most disturbing, scary, and confusing piece of theater Ive ever seen. Im glad I saw it, but I dont think I could ever watch it again.

I saw on Saturday night. The cancellation line was very long so there is strong interest.

The audience response was tepid.

Playwright was outside theatre greeting friends and fans.
