I’ve seen several of these TCM classic movies presented by Fathom Events and have always enjoyed them. My favorite was “The Ten Commandments” with its thunderous and glorious opening music. Very impressive to hear it in the theater and see the movie on the big screen.
Oh, you're absolutely correct. The important thing is to see them on the big screen as they were meant to be seen, but I can't help but be nostalgic for 35 mm. I too attend many TCM Fathom events and will see both of these. However, I would rather see them at the Beverly Cinema in L.A. where all films are in 35 mm.
THANK YOU! I've been trying to watch it (legitimately) online, since I just saw the Lincoln Center production. It's actually difficult to get a hold of, unless you want to buy a DVD.
I won't be seeing it because I don't see the play until May and I think it is too close. That said,I have to admit that TKAM, which I have seen only 4 or 5 times in the past 58 years, doesn't seem like it would need a big screen. If I am going to spend almost twice as much for a ticket (not in an urban area with urban movie prices), I want it to be something that really benefits from the large screen, The Ten Commandments being a perfect example.
