I forgot all about starting this thread. I actually brought it up to Roy (Bianca Del Rio) last month and was curious about the prospects of it still transferring and they want to do it but it’s now more of a “wouldn’t it be nice...”

I imagine if the film does ok in the US they could certainly transfer.

If American audiences got on board with the Geordie accents in Billy Elliot then I’m sure they’ll get on board with the Sheffield accents in Jamie.

JC, You obviously travel a lot, see many shows and know a lot of people, as you keep telling us, but this previous post saying you brought it up with 'Roy', who? and then told us who he is, that was genius---thanks.

Unfortunately, that move had to be made; a second wave is almost certain to hit the nation around mid-September.

I don't know how Americans will respond to this movie; not all West End hits generate the same appeal overseas. Perhaps the release could boost a potential Broadway transfer?

...sometimes respond differently to a show.  "Buddy" was a great success in London; big flop in NYC.  "Blood Brothers" ran and ran in London, 21 years, but only two years in NYC.  The Queen musical "We Will Rock You" had a healthy West End run and no producer has chanced it on Broadway.  It would be costly to make investment decisions solely because London audiences have enthusiastically applauded "Jamie." New York auds will or will not do the same.

The is absolutely no reason for Jamie NOT to be American/Australian. What happens when a non-English production of any show is done?

I genuinely don't know--anyone?

If done in France, in French, is the show adapted to a French setting and characters?

The only thing that stood out to me that I thought they'd need to adapt for an American audience is when the bully (Dean) calls Jamie a certain word (a chilling scene centres on this word).  It's a particular UK slang term and not really known in North America.

I’m curious - did Roy/Bianca use an accent for the role? I know Michelle Visage did but it seems like his role could easily be American.

I'd bet the farm that this won't come in.  It's audience is entirely too small.

Tourists won't flock.  NY'ers will see it once and not go back.  It's not that kind of show.

Like someone else said already, one decent song, the rest is garbage.

It's a great big pandering mess, but it IS a show with multiple stunt-casting possibilities.
