Still let's not make him more than he was . Remember Read my lips: no new taxes.?The Gulf War? (Part one) Panama invasion? and his "let them eat cake" attitude when dealing w normal peoples difficulty in dealing w an economic downswing.
How sad have things become when George Bush Sr is "the good ole days"?

They certainly had the balls to tell him he wasn't welcome at Barbara Bush's funeral but when it's a former president, the protocols are a little different, like it or not.

I've read somewhere that these semi political funerals can function as a unofficial summits- heads of state meeting but w/out formal agendas. Let's see who else comes.

George H.W. Bush all I can think of is he and Regan during the Height of the AIDS Epidemic and nothing that they did. Ironic Bush died on World AIDS Day.

President George Herbert Walker Bush offered his life in service to the United States during World War II. In contrast, the current Draft-Dodger-in-Chief claims that his "own personal Viet Nam War was to avoid contracting any venereal diseases".
President Bush was a good man. His politics were not mine; but I judge him on the totality of his life.

Wow! I'm not clear on his AIDS record, but I do reminisce about the times my friends and family weren't at war about who the president was. Dump has me nostalgic for the Cheney years.

He fought in WW II, was two term congressman, head of the CIA, VP for 8 years and POTUS for 4 years. Whether you liked him politically or not, it was quite a career and life.
