I thought the film was fine. With Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne being standouts,. It would be a much better play.

I hear it sucks. I’m nervous to see it.

I think Rowling is stretching herself way too thin and her work is suffering because of it.

A part of me wishes she had retired the Wizarding World after she finished the seventh book.

Agree. Every reveal in the film felt contrived and forced, like Rowling was trying to connect every little thing back to the original series. It just didn't feel at all natural. Had Dumbledore's appearance been the only connection to Harry Potter then it would have made it a far better movie than what we've gotten. 

Rowling can pretend that she has all the this information is in her head and it was planned from the start but it's evident that she's making it up as she goes in order to please the fans. The original Harry Potter series was so well thought out and intricate that it puts this new series to shame. 

Rowling should have given the franchise to someone else and let the films go off in their own unique direction. She never should've taken on screenwriting duties.

I really liked the first beasts film (didnt love) but thus was an utter disappointment. The film was pretty boring, lit too darkly (and for far too much of it and was totally in love with its own sfx -which had more screen time than any of the plot.

The supporting characters, whom we love from the first film, were more like window dressing here.

I didn't love it either, but I do have a feeling that the spoiler above is not necessarily true but just what Grindelwald is telling Credence as part of his plan. I have a hard time believing that Rowling would just rewrite the well documented history of that particular family.

What is it about that character that makes you think he's an honest sort, and not manipulating the person he's speaking to? Remember, he thought he might be looking for a girl in the last film, so he was at least partially in the dark.  As far as I can tell, some people are obsessed with criticising everything Rowling does, so they assume something must be a plot hole rather than a character might be wrong and/or lying.

Anyway, I saw some bad reviews before going which made me nervous, but then I really, really enjoyed it.  I am someone who is pretty familiar with the original book series, so I got more benefit from some of the references than many, but the friend I went with had only seen one Harry Potter film and the first FB one, and thought it was great and laughed at the jokes etc. It was pretty dark, but with a lot of dark/deadpan humour. I wonder if some of that works better for a UK audience than a US one?

I'd say I liked it more than the first one, because it was more about the over-arching plot and less about a fantastical safari trip, which is fun for a bit, but not enough to keep my attention for a whole film.  I can understand that some people prefer their film series to be a string of self-contained plots, whereas this film ended with the expectation that you'll return for the next one to find out what happens next.  I personally like that, but it's fair that people who don't like it get to say so.

I really wanted to see it,but i heard that it was not so great. I havent caved and watched it yet.. Should I?
