Good Audition Songs and Monologues for Bye Bye Birdie |
I just played Rosie in my schools production and I sang "I'm Not at All In Love" from Pajama game and my monologue was Fire the Boys! It went super well and both are very fun and comedic and character appropriate! Worked for me! Hope this helps!!
Look at the Adams & Strouse catalog. Look hard at "You've Got Possibilities" from Superman (1966). Its a jazzy little diamond that almost tells you to dance a bit.
I don't have a clue why directors of musicals ask for a monologue except for your own audition experience. Monologues in musicals are almost always called 'songs'. The directors ought to have people read scenes from the script instead..
Sing "Nothing" from Chorus Line, the one Morales sings.
For the monologue try "I Completely Blacked Out" from Chicago.
