There will never be a way to make a musical of this movie that is better than or even on par with the film.
As such, why bother?

My first thought is, "it has so many locations, it's going to have horrible video screens like MEAN GIRLS!"
But I agree with Sondheimite. MEAN GIRLS may be an apt comparison: an overly faithful libretto that never quite lives up to the original movie. The movie is as much of a classic as Groundhog Day, and people weren't genuinely interested in seeing that onstage. Mean Girls has the advantage of being more recent and having a very famous/active bookwriter.

Can we do a Moonstruck musical adaptation first, please?

The movie is so good and Matthew Broderick is so good in it, I don’t see any way a team (and an actor) could live up to it and create something exciting. It’s possible, but it would be very difficult.
