Do you believe there is a enough NEW talent finding leading or supporting roles on Broadway? As I look at a lot of social media pages, I find press releases of new plays and or musicals and seeing some of the same faces I always see (kind of like a rep company).

Do you think producers take enough chances on new talent?

Lots of reasons for this. One, as actors go from show to show their social media presence grows, and then the cycle begins of the next show wanting an actor with a large social media presence. 2., casting companies are not super creative and have files of the same people that they bring in for everything. Over and over. Over. And. Over. 3. Directors do the same thing. Casey Nichelow transferred his cast from the Prom to Mean Girls. And lots of other reasons as well.

The 2017-2018 season was the season of new talent. How many Broadway debuts were there in Mean Girls and Spongebob? How many first time nominees were there?

The question posed does not exactly match the one framed in the heading.

There is certainly enough new talent available but whether that talent finds enough work depends on one's perspective. The uncast new talent obviously think the answer is no. The cast new talent may think yes. The producer who is trying to fulfill his or her fiduciary obligations may think reducing risk makes sense. (We may disagree.) The casting director thinks the answer is yes because there is no lazier species of human in existence. And the entire production team is predisposed to working with the known quantity that they like rather than the unknown quantity. Nothing is worse than spending weeks in a rehearsal room with an immensely talented pain in the ass.

Like any job experience matters. So do personal connections.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Now that was brilliant

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian
