BAM Next Wave Festival

I thought it might be appropriate to start a thread for performance reports from BAM's Next Wave Festival, to avoid too many individual threads.

I saw SITI Company's The Bacchae today and thought it was quite excellent in its own esoteric and distant way. Viewpoints is a remarkably effective technique for Greek theatre and the ending was absolutely remarkable. Some odd humor choices that felt rather "how do you do, fellow kids?" (Pentheus dabs at one point and...that's all I have to say about that) but Ellen Lauren was remarkable (in a performance clearly inspired by Kate Valk in The Emperor Jones and the always excellent Eric Berryman will hopefully keep popping up over the next few years.
