I missed it last night. Why was the earlier thread deleted?

JBroadway said: "Are the rumors of Moulin Rouge that it'll open in the summer? Otherwise I'm surprised Kinky Bootswould wait until April to close. Would have been nice to have another vacancy for this coming Spring season."

Closing in early April will also give them a chance to get a boost from Spring Break and Easter Break tourism, especially groups. It may also give them a chance to extend an extra two weeks to Easter Weekend, where shows can close with higher grosses.

I'll be curious who they will cast for the 'last leg' of it's bway run?  I hope they pull out all the stops and goes out with a bang!  Cheers to a long run!

Maybe they’ll bring back Wayne Brady and Brendon Urie?

Fair point, but if then why don't more shows do that? I can't even think of another example of a show that closed in early April, except for mega-flops that had no choice (I'm sure there are examples, my point is just that it seems uncommon). But maybe this is a topic for another thread.

One of my favourite shows from my very first trip to New York back in 2014. Such a fun, positive, uplifting show and, in my opinion, so deserving of that Tony! I’m sad to see it go but all involved should be so proud of the run they had.

I would absolutely LOVE if Callum Francis who played Lola in Australia and currently in the UK tour got to close out the Broadway production. While I loved Billy Porter, Callum is really something special! He is leaving the tour in January so while definitely a long shot it would be possible!

I'm wondering if a deal was made with the producers of MR.

While this has never been my favorite show by any means (and I was totally rooting for Matilda at the Tonys that year), I still had a great deal of fun at Kinky Boots each time I saw it. They had a truly remarkable run.

Doubt there was any kind of financial deal between MR and KB. Before this, the longtime rumor was that HARRY POTTER was taking the Hirschfeld. And as other people have speculated here, I think the Brendon Urie sales spike took them by surprise. The sales have kept dropping, and after a 6 year run, they'd probably start burning money soon.

Also remember, the landlord of the Hirschfeld Theatre is the son of KINKY BOOTS' lead producer. The Roth family can potentially make more money with another big long-running hit.

Brendon Urie is busy touring this fall in Asia and then across America in February and March so that doesn’t seem likely. I do hope they bring some other big names though!

Wayne Brady also had a big boost on sales(both times). Sands and Porter's return also helped as did Todrick, but the recent adds of Ballas, Shears and Glenn did nothing. David Cook was a surprise and did farely well. Curious who's next after Ballas and if Ghee gets replaced to close the show. IMO, Ghee should be closing the show unless Porter wants to.

I have seen this show 6 times and loved it as much as the first time in all subsequent viewings.  It is truly the perfect illustration of a feel good show: I always felt better leaving the theatre than when I entered it.  A wave of warmth and love flew off of that stage and enveloped the audience.  I have to admit that I was hoping that it would outlast Trump.

Any idea when tickets for the April 7th performance will go on sale?

Yeah, that's some really bad stunt casting. Also, FYI, tickets for the April 7 closing show aren't available to the public.

I have to see it with Francis now. I've heard audio of his Lola and they're amazing.

Also happy Ghee gets to close the show. Now just a matter of who the final Charlie will be.

I totally agree with Stephie, Callum Francis will blow the roof off, he is SENSATIONAL--and what he does with that white dress--you will be unable to breathe.

I am so happy for Callum! I went to see his final Lola performance in London and he was spectacular. A very well-deserved transfer.

Is there a popular/shared opinion on who is “better” of the two? My partner and I loved KB more than we expected to and having been meaning to go back before it closes.
