(Surprised that no one else has posted about this yet - unless there is already a thread, in which case feel free to direct me toward it)

Joe Masteroff, best known as the book writer for "Cabaret," "She Loves Me," and "70, Girls, 70," has passed away at the impressive age of 98 (and he was less than 3 months shy of 99). Though he may not have been as prolific as some of his contemporaries, his contributions to the musical theatre cannon were monumental to say the least. We could use more like him these days. RIP, Joe!

What a great talent.

I don't know how involved he was in the rewritten versions of CABARET, but it's kind of amazing how well the show stands today, even in its original form. And SHE LOVES ME is about as delightful as a musical could be (and now we have the Roundabout production preserved forever!)

May he rest in peace.

I would expect Roundabout to dim at the very least...he gave them their biggest hit (CABARET) and the musical that put them on the map (SHE LOVES ME). Roundabout might not even be around today were it not for Cabaret, and they certainly wouldn't own three Broadway theaters.
