THE ROOM MUSICAL- Broadway |
Look, I'll be the first to argue in favor of literally anything that keeps actors employed and life-blood flowing on Broadway...
...but is this really where we're at?
Really?

I don't usually put too much stock in what Tommy says, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is true. It's the ultimate cult film, beloved by many people in the entertainment industry. With the right creative team, I think it could work, although a musical adaptation of THE DISASTER ARTIST would probably make more sense. In any event, I'm here for it! Let's not forget, they made an opera out of THE JERRY SPRINGER SHOW.
Please God, let this be true.
Tommy has enough money to probably mount this entirely on his own so I wouldn’t be too sure this isn’t going to happen.
This is a terrible idea to adapt a bad movie into what will likely be a horrid musical........... and I have never wanted something to actually happen this badly in my whole life! Dear gosh, can we start talking about dream casting this now?

I'll be the first to buy a ticket.
If anything, it won't be as banal as 99% of the musicals that end up on Broadway
At FRINGE orlando this year, a group actually debuted a full 90 minute ROOMsical. It was cute, needed work, but being extremely self-aware made it fun.
One can only hope this happens.

No need to wait
The Room Parody Musical- "I Didn't Hit Her"
I just saw double d reviews has posted 2 songs from his show, and I've got to say, he does a good job combining camp and a little more substance rather than flat out camp and mass hysteria like in that demo.
I think he also wrote it as a story where Tommy tries to bring a musical adaptation to Broadway, as he copes with failure from the film.
I remember hearing the opening number a while ago and was honestly pretty impressed:

and his other one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uexhqeix_fY
I don't watch him but judging all this, maybe it could be him??

laughable like all Broadway aspirational silliness and yet at the same time not discountable.
the best news in this is that it is a sign that the Broadway musical is continuing to make inroads into the broader public and artistic consciousness.
