The Music of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to be Released! |
I have been listening to the songs she pulled from since seeing the play in the spring. Really looking forward to this.

HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF BABY JESUS AND ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THE WORLD, THANK YOU MADAME IMOGEN HEAP (I'm pretty sure I just ran around my apt screaming into a pillow to muffle myself, but I'm not sure as I'm WAY too excited about this...)
Will this not be on iTunes? It doesn't matter hugely to me as I care more about it happening at all.

Take it! Take my money! This is fantastic! I have not been able to get that music out of my head since I saw the show.
If the OP had linked the article instead of Amazon, it'd be clear that it's also being released digitally.

I find it interesting that many have done this but it's literally the actual songs from her albums on that list...no judging I just find it interesting since they literally were torn apart and completely rearranged for the show, some to the point of almost being unrecognizable! I didn't even know where Hide and Seek fell in the show until I listened SUPER hard for it when I saw it the second time. It's quite a "blink and you'll miss it" moment.

I actually did read that, but it doesn't say on what platform. iTunes? Amazon? Both? I have come across a few albums over the years (just generally), that were only available digitally on Amazon, rather than the behemoth, practically-has-a-monopoly-on-the-digital-music-market, iTunes.

Didn't mean to offend, Fosse. This thread was created before the BWW article (or any press) was released, and I was taking directly from their Twitter. (Also, when was the last time an album wasn't released digitally on most platforms?)
Haven't seen the show yet, or heard the music. But how would you all describe it using adjectives, phrasing, etc.? What genre would you use to describe the emotions and feelings of the music. I know I can pull it up and listen to it myself, but I'm intrigued and curious how you would describe it.
To me it sounds like classy and sophisticated video game music. It's very percussive with a lot of synth sounds, combined now and then with what sounds to me like "real" instruments. Many unusual sound effects are also used. One, for instance, sounds like a wooden ship being torn apart.
The songs are very catchy.
I'm basing this not on the new album that's coming out but on a selection of the instrumental versions of her songs that someone here on BWW compiled. I look forward to the new album!

I absolutely know that and I'm still beyond excited to buy this. I've wanted the actual music from the show since the first preview, listening to the original album just isn't the same.

To add to the great descriptions thus far, I'd add this comparison. The film soundtracks are very whimsical, almost Disney-like at times, but this music lacks any and all whimsy, which obviously is fine. It mostly pretty dark and edgy (there's a few exceptions) but in that sophisticated way.

Pray tell what is the song that opens Part 2 then?
