I didn't hate Pretty Woman, but I find it hard to recommend. I agree that King Kong is the way to go. Enter code KKDMX705 on https://www.telechargeoffers.com for a great discount.
Pretty Woman, to me, is just blandness incarnate. Just mind-numbingly ordinary from beginning to end. And hey, you may even catch a regional production of it sometime down the line, and it'll probably be about as good as the Broadway production.
But King Kong you probably won't get to see anywhere else. Even if the show is a disaster, you'll at least get to see the awesome puppet, and at least you'll get a funny story out of seeing King Kong The Musical on Broadway.
Seriously, which ever one you choose, how will you know that is the right one. You might love/hate the one you chose so you will never know then if you would have loved/hated the other.
You can't have your cake etc and life is full of disappointments and surprises.
Read/listen then go with your gut and too bad if your choice stinks, you've had a night out and something to discuss.
Of course one is about a prostitute who actually doesn't, and the other is about an animal that wants to do unimaginable things with a human, and they all sing[except the ape , who grunts a lot].
I think PW is the way to go. From what I understand, KK did not do well during its run in Australia and I thought Pretty Woman was fun!

Considering that KING KONG has a new creative team, its reception in Australia 5 years ago is pretty irrelevant.
Thank you for all the replies. I think I am going to go with Kong as I am pretty sure Pretty Woman will go on tour and we have season tickets at ASU Gammage. I think seeing King Kong on Broadway will be pretty fun. Thanks again!
