I found a recent photo of the beautiful Glynis Johns. With all of the talk of the Mary Poppins sequel I was curious about how she is doing. She'll be 95 in a few weeks! Glynis Johns

Seems to me that she's doing well and still has that same spark in her eyes.  She continued working until around 10 years ago, I believe.  Who knows?  Maybe we'll see her again.

I had no idea she was still alive. I so wish she had made a cameo in the new film.

That photo is from 2013... it was part of a series of photos published as a 2014 calendar for the retirement village she lives in, as the photographer notes in this post:

Here's a page on Belmont Village's website about Glynis:

She retired from acting in 1999 after her very funny performance in the film "Superstar."

She's one of my favorites. Try to track down her films "Miranda" and its sequel "Mad About Men." I highly recommend them.

And of course we can't forget her iconic performance in "A Little Night Music":

Oh wow I had no idea. I just googled Glynis Johns 2018 and the page that came up had no date! Thank you for letting me know! Either way wether she's 90 or 95 in the photo, she looks great!

I loved her two Miranda mermaid movies as a kid. There was a NY TV station that use to show them on afternoon television a lot. She was especially attractive in "Mad About Men."

I saw Ms. Johns 11 times in A Little Night Music and saw the show 12 times. The first time I saw it was in previews and she was out for health reasons. Barbara Lang played Desiree. I remember there was this flurry of guesses of what was going to happen if Ms. Johns couldn't come back. I also remember the creative crew rushing in Tammy Grimes to see the show for a possible replacement. Well, Ms. Johns was rumored to say at the time, "nobody else is going to sing my songs". She came back for the opening and played it for a year and a half! Happy Birthday!

For sure,  as i was lucky enough to see Glynis Johns in the original production in the Summer of 1973,  of this most wonderful musical...the show was magical to me and to this day i say it is Sondheim's most complete musical...the book and the score work so well...not a moment nor a note is wasted

Happy Birthday Ms. Johns

She played the entire "Night Music" run.  I saw her at the Shubert in the summer of 1973, and it's a night that hasn't been duplicated with any other iteration/cast.  I've always found her "Clowns" definitive.  And we have the same birthday.

The very first thing I saw Glynis Johns in was the movie "The Court Jester" with Danny Kaye and Angela Lansbury. Then "Mary Poppins", "The Sundowners", "The Chapman Report" and "Papa's Delicate Condition". I always loved her speaking voice and those enormous twinkly blue eyes of hers.

Happy early birthday wishers to you!

My earliest exposure to her was the Mary Poppins film, followed by (in re-runs) her guest spot on Batman, where she played a British villain named Penelope Peasoup. I am sad I never saw her onstage.

My name is neither "adam" nor "greer."

Iconic indeed!  I can listen to her sing "Send in the Clowns" over and over and over again.  It is mesmerizing! I love her voice.

Only saw her on stage once, and that was in London in 1977 in a play called Cause Celebre. Both she and the play - an enveloping courtroom drama - were excellent.
