Are there plans to bring this to NYC?
Realistically speaking, does anyone see this doing better on Broadway or Off-Broadway should it transfer?
I'll be there on Saturday night and really looking forward to it (even if that means I have to spend the night in Hartofrd!)
I just watched the move last weekend and absolutely loved it (Wow young Jessica Walter!). I want to go to the beach club where it was filmed too!

So - I’d say spring for the center if you can get them. Most of the new musicals I’ve seen there (Gentleman’s Guide and Anastasia) are very well done, as are the revivals (recently, Kiss Me Kate). Enjoy!
Has anyone seen it yet? So excited to hear about the show.
The Hartford Stage Instragram posted this, and if that isn't confirmation of an eventual Broadway transfer then I don't know what is. Given how many jukebox musicals with non-original scores are currently in the pipeline, I can see this becoming very big very fast.

Photos from the production - I love the bright colors. The set looks really dope.

Just what Broadway needs, another movie onstage.

Broadway needs hits, regardless the source material. Be it a forgotten sleeper like Flamingo Kid or a familiar blockbuster like Moulin Rouge, audiences will determine what they want to see. Be More Chill certainly doesn't seem to be it.
Maybe I'm being too picky, but am I the only one that has a problem buying the kid is a teen? Idk he seems like he's in his 20s clearly, of course his acting may make it not matter but from first glance idk.
Anyone see this yet? Some footage was released: http://www.playbill.com/article/watch-jimmy-brewer-lesli-margherita-and-more-in-scenes-from-hartford-stages-the-flamingo-kid
Well, that was not so hot. Every musical like this looks the same, sounds the same, has the same light bumps, the choreography, well, whatever that was, looks the same - it sounds like subpar David Yazbeck.
I saw this on Saturday. It feels very out of date.
I’m sad this is Darko’s last show at Hartford Stage.

I saw it last week and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. A step up from A Bronx Tale - the other pastiche filled, coming-of-age, father/son/family drama, with a young romance. Nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary - but it's very likable!
