Remember how social media brought "Be More Chill" to Broadway? Well, I'm making my own mission. I'm starting a campaign to make Roundabout Theatre Company produce a new production of Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party on Broadway next season. I even requested that the theater company should hire a female director and a female choreographer to add much needed diversity to the creative team.

If you have a Twitter account, please click and retweet this tweet: https://twitter.com/glenn_biz/status/1037401052058927104

Plus, I began a petition with a goal of 975 signatures to reach my goal. I signed my name already on it. Click on this link to sign: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/andrew-lippas-wild-party-to-broadway.

You can also click the link on the top of my homepage of my blog (glennbiz.blogspot.com) to sign the petition.

Wanna help bring another show to Broadway like BMC, this is your chance. Retweet or sign, or do both. Any comments?

BMC garnered a dedicated fanbase that was cultivated on social media. It's not like they just got the show to Broadway by petitioning.

975 signatures wouldn't even begin to convince anyone to produce any play on bway.

You're wasting your time. This is not how Roundabout decides what shows to do. When social media helps get a show to Broadway, it's organic. It's not one guy trying to start a campaign. Sorry to burst your bubble.

BMC had a petition to revise the show with the original cast. Take a look: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/be-more-chill-original-cast-revival

By the way, I changed the number from 975 to 600 signatures. I'm not giving up on my campaign. Please click and sign: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/andrew-lippas-wild-party-to-broadway

Do you have any proof that the petition has ANYTHING to do with the current run? No. They had an online presence, people talking about the show, creating fan art, buying the recording like CRAZY. It didnt come from a petition that wouldn't fill a Broadway house for more than a day.

Good luck and all.

Everyone has the potential to imagine a worthwhile dream.

Most have the ability to achieve it.

This, my friend, has neither going for it. Save your breath.

Come on. Think about it. People need to pay attention to this. Roundabout should listen to their subscribers more often if they're making plans for what they want for next season.

And in that answer, you reveal just how little you understand about this business. Listening to their subscribers is not their only job or their only priority. Now go and learn.

ARE you a subscriber?  I'm not.  I go see some of their shows.

Even if you do get 600 people to sign your petition, and every one of them buys a ticket: (they won't since most are signing because they are your friend) that wouldn't even sell out ONE performance of the show.  How does that show Roundabout (or any theater) that this is what the people want?   Roundabout (and every subscriber base) send out surveys.

As noted before: raise MONEY, and produce it yourself.  That's just about as plausible as this working.

600 signatures? That's not even sold-out for one performance. Secure 500,000 "signatures," and maybe someone will listen to you.

Best way to get a theatre company to listen is money. Becoming a high-level donor ($100K or more annually) could maybe secure a meeting with the Exec. Director. Then, you could offer to do a co-production with them, in which you contribute/raise $5million+ towards the production.

(Also, for what it's worth, I don't remember the City Center production selling out 3 years ago, and that had a pretty starry cast -- Sutton Foster, Steven Pasquale, Miriam Shor, Brandon Victor Dixon.)

I admire the drive and tenacity shown by OP here. Everyone needs a hobby.

I think something that would hold more water would be drumming up interest for a one-night-only concert staging featuring the original Off-Broadway cast (Idina/Taye/Julia/Brian/Alix). Andrew Lippa, Julia, and Idina have all, at some point in the last 5 years, said they'd be down for such a thing (source: they told me). That type of event could easily sell out and turn a profit for the producer - though such a thing is much better suited to be a big gala fundraiser.

Start soliciting Barry Grove; get MTC to do it next year for the 20th anniversary of their production. (Hell, maybe I'll put that bug in MTC's ear myself.)

A petition did not bring Be More Chill to Broadway. Sold out pre-broadway runs, an avid active fanbase, and producers willing to back the show are what is bringing it to Broadway. The Wild Party has none of these things. Keep dreaming.

Joseph Moncure March's "Wild Party" novella is beautifully pulpy noir trash. All style over the thinnest of substance by design.

My controversial opinion: Lippa "got" March's material in a way LaChiusa didn't care to. While LaChiusa created the more accomplished work, it loses the heart of what "The Wild Party" is and why its appeal has stuck around. The LaChiusa "Wild Party" is a fascinating character drama about the intersection of racial politics and the entertainment world, with the specter of racism forever hanging over it. But it's a weighty, serious work in a way March's novella never is.

On the other hand, Lippa's show is the same kind of trash that March's novella is. It's fun, it's grotesque, it's over-the-top, most of the characters are paper-thin, unpleasant and a little bit offensive to modern political correctness... but that's the same as March's novella. I don't hate the genre-bending score, even as I recognize that LaChiusa's is the greater artistic accomplishment.

I suppose it boils down to me respecting LaChiusa's "Wild Party," and enjoying Lippa's "Wild Party," for the exact opposite reasons.

Are people here, I don't know, insane?  I saw both Wild Party tries - neither was good, although Lippa was certainly better than LaChiusa.  Is this for attention?  That seems to be what's at play here since no one in their right mind would go anywhere near either version in terms of Broadway.  Perhaps the OP is a teen?  Perhaps the OP knows Lippa?  Perhaps the world has gone mad?

So, why Wild Party of all musicals and Roundabout?

This will never happen there with the cast you suggested...NEVER!

Keep Dreaming and that's a good thing.
