How long will Head Over Heels last? |
on what possible basis would it last? It is losing hundreds of thousands of dollars weekly. It is playing to more empty seats than filled ones. Whatever you may think of it, we are well past the point of luck.
I enjoyed Head Over Heels in its out-of-town tryout, as did my wife and daughter, but its chances of surviving until January on Broadway seem pretty close to zero, unless the producers want to keep losing money for reasons that escape me. I'm glad the cast and crew have kept their jobs for longer than I expected, based on the box office returns, but there's no reason to think there will be a magical turnaround in its fortunes. The show simply never found an audience from the start. I'm actually surprised it hasn't already closed.

I walked out of the theater in early July saying that it wouldn't make it past the summer....and Labor day has come and gone.

Summer doesn't end on Labor Day.

And before anyone earwax-like chimes in...no one is wishing it would close...its just inevitable.
I also raved about HOH on my blog. (https://jkstheatrescene.blogspot.com/2018/08/review-head-over-heels.html) And I'm thrilled it has lasted this long, but its prospects are grim.

I am willing to bet you will be reading about closing notice in the next week or two at the latest.
I just heard a rumor that they received a large investment from an Angel donor to keep them going for a few more months.

Why...Not fair to the cast playing to approx. 400 people a night (less than 1/2 filled)!!! Just close it already and spare the cast nightly from the embarrassment!

I'll take that bet.

Because the producers are likely banking that it will be done to death in the college and amateur markets in coming years, a la Xanadu which also tanked in Nee York.

Whoever the angel investor is for head over heels I'd like them to "invest" in paying for the rest of my college. Might as well put that money to good use and not throw it out!
