For what it’s worth, Katie Goffman is fabulous. Like a clone of Alicia Silverstone with a great voice. Dove who?

Katie was fantastic.

Joe Iconis & George Salazar were in the building.

Katie was incredible.

This show would have had a tough time getting on the main stage at NYMF.

I saw the show on Sunday night and had a great time! DC was out then too but Goffman was completely hilarious and what a voice! She looks the part too. I thought there were some other really strong performances, especially Ephie Aardema.

Does anyone have a song list?

Amy Heckerling's screenplay for Clueless is one of the smartest and funniest screenplays and it's sad to hear the musical seems to fall short of that.

One of the reviews brought up an excellent point about Alicia Silverstone being so key to the film's success. As I grow older and have watched way more films since the time I first saw Clueless, I realized Amy Heckerling was really lucky to find Alicia Silverstone to play Cher who was able to really play her with such sincerity and was able to balance all the things to make Cher work and not fall into the dumb blonde stereotype though she doesn't back away from Cher's more clueless moments that I can see another actress botching that balance.

I saw the show tonight and I really enjoyed it! It’s silly funny but I had a good time. I liked the use of the 90s music, I grew up hearing those songs. I have never heard of Dove before but I thought she was great!

Amy Heckerling was there tonight.

Is the runtime of this 2:15 or 2:30? And anyone stage door for Dove? How long has she been taking to come out?

I'm seeing on social media she's out of the show at the matinee. Anyone hear if she'll be on tonight? If not, do they do exchanges?

When I was there and Dove was out, I overheard an usher saying you could go talk to ticketing about any available options. So I'd just get there early and talk to the desk when you pick up your ticket. However, Katie was excellent, she embodied Alicia Silverstone as Cher so much and her voice was flawless. If I were you I'd just see the show anyway!

Caught the show last night. Dove was on.

Am I going insane, or is there no song list in the Playbill? I cannot find it at all.

Saw it tonight. Dove Cameron was in and she was fantastic. Overall, the show is kind of terrible. It’s fun, but I wouldn’t advise spending over $100 to see it, which is the most feasible way to get in. I managed to get two $20 tickets earlier this week when I had been continuously checking the site for released tickets.

Dove was out for the matinee and alot of parents were PISSED "we came just to see her, I called ahead" I overheard one mom yell at a volunteer usher.

I really think considering the lead is someone who has a BIG following via Disney that The New Group should have offered an age advisement or content advisory because there were ALOT of 5-11 year old kids in the audience this afternoon and this is not the show for them, not that its SUPER risque, some drug humor and sex stuff but no nudity etc but just they have no context for any of the references or alot of the songs and it just created this weird energy in the room where some jokes totally fell flat.

That being said, this show was a total mess that was 15 years too late and all I could think of was Cruel Intentions (which did the 90s jukebox so so SO much better) or stuff like Heathers, Mean Girls, Be More Chill etc

The score was the weirdest and the arrangements were rough with people hitting different notes and stuff, but what I really dont understand is using half re-written 90s songs and was super confused that for a show set in the early-mid 90s that they had late 90s music. Also the most absurd thing ive ever seen was the chorus of Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm by Crash Test Dummys projected sing-along style on the wall in an attempt to get the audience to hum along which was a thud, I turned to the woman next to me and asked her to confirm if what we were watching was really happening.

With all of that said, enjoyed Dove's understudy Katie Goffman, love Dave Thomas Brown, love Will Connolly (please someone get him in a decent show again, first This Ain't No DIsco and now this!) and Chris Hoch is doing fantastic work in his three roles and the show came alive every now and then but man either go with a jukebox musical or an original score, not whatever this weird both ways stuff was.

I  saw it this past Saturday and Dove was on (she was great) and also came out after. Honestly, I was blown away by how genuinely sweet and kind she was. She took so much time with each and every fan and was so open and warm. She warned everyone at first that she was on vocal rest (possibly the reason for not being in the matinees beforehand?) and that she wouldn't be as talkative... that lasted like three seconds. Several people asked her to say "Hi" to someone on video and she happily obliged despite saying she would be resting her voice. I had been a casual fan of hers before but that definitely boosted her ranking for me.

This is from the playbill where the songs are listed alphabetically and not in the order they were performed but I did note the placement for some of them.

  • A Girl Like You
  • Barbie Girl
  • Beautiful Life [Opening Number]
  • Bye Bye Bye
  • Dammit
  • Groove Is In the Heart
  • How Am I Supposed to Live Without You
  • Kids in America [Finale]
  • Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong
  • My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It) [Act 2 Opening Number]
  • No Scrubs
  • Novocaine for the Soul
  • One of Us / Torn [Act 1 Finale]
  • She’s So High
  • Shoop
  • Supermodel
  • Toots Shor’s Blues
  • U Can’t Touch This
  • What’s Up
  • You Get What You Give
  • You Gotta Be

"The Sign" was also listed but I honestly do not remember that being sung at all. “Creep” "Rollin' With My Homies" and "I Don't Wanna Wait" are listed as well but they are not musical numbers, the original song was played as background music.

We watched the movie this weekend to get the taste of the musical out of our heads and were surprised how well it held up.  First time we had seen it since it came out.

Were impressed at how many lines in the Musical are directly from the film . . . other than "Off the Chain" and the fist bump that weren't in the movie and just seemed so out of place in a show that takes place in the 1990's.

OMG, saw this last night.  One of the most inept, amateurish evening I've ever experienced in the theater.  And I'm a native New Yorker who's been seeing theater for over 40 years.  (And no, I'm not too old to appreciate well-done fluff.)  Dove Cameron, was out, which might have contributed to the slapdash nature of things, but I can't imagine that her presence would have helped that much.  Truly, this was like a stale Hasty Pudding spoof.  A dreadful embarrassment for all involved.

Dove was out at the matinee today as well (I was seeing FABULATION and noticed a sign up at the Signature).

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

She was out yesterday (tweeted that she was in the emergency room, hope she's doing okay!), but Katie was as fantastic as everyone said she was. Really stole the show, great energy, and embodied young Alicia Silverstone PERFECTLY.

There were some pissed parents/teens/kids and people sending Dove hate tweets, which is all completely uncalled for. As well as moms being rude to ushers. Aside from that, the show was cute and fun and I'd definitely go see it again to see Dove if it wasn't closing soon/sold out. It was no Tony Winner, but it was a fun time and I appreciated that I was able to enjoy the show on its own, even without the big star I was looking forward to seeing.

I really hope Dove gets better soon. I enjoyed watching this musical for $40 but doubt it will go to Broadway. For some reason one of the scenes I remember laughing hysterically at when I saw the movie back in the 90s was when Alicia Silverstone fell off the bed... I'll admit I was hoping to see that on stage but I understand why they opted not to do that.

So Dove isn't on tonight to close the show. She was back this past week and a half for just a few shows every other day or so. Shame she's had to miss so many shows.

They should move this to New World Stages and Dove should reprise her role when she's all better.
