First look at the reimagined Phantom of the Opera opening in Norway |
IMO, this looks much better than the current US touring production. I particularly like the descending staircase to the lair, the opera house rooftop, and what I'm assuming is the Phantom's entrance during "Masquerade". However, I don't get the design of the scene with the ballet girls and others surrounding a woman (Carlotta?) standing on a raised platform with a thin metal rail surrounding it.

It definitely has it's similarities with the current US and UK tour but the entire production does seem far superior. There are certain scenes that look completely lifted from the 2004 movie. This production should replace the tour.
