Will Megan be doing this on broadway after the concert. Maybe Sheridan Smith should do it  or Annaleigh Ashford

If the show were to come back to NY I would hope that it would be Off-Broadway. A huge part of what makes it work is the intimacy of it and the best productions almost always have that gritty, slightly under-funded feel to them. The Broadway production from the early 2000s showed that a slick, big, expensive production saps the heart right out of the show.

I'd flip my sh!t for an immersive Little Shop to replace Sweeney off-broadway at Barrow Street.

Since the Barrow Street no longer exists that's not very likely.

The current production at Regents Park in London is truly the production that should transfer.

It's brilliant.  Unlike any other version of this show I've seen.

I loved the Regents Park reinvention. Vicky Vox was outstanding and I hope it transfers to the West End but I would recast the lead two. Loved the trio of girls the sound was amazing.

A production of Little Shop without Ellen Greene is pointless. She is Audrey. I've never seen it work without her.

That clip of them on YouTube is pretty great, but I can't see this being profitable. I feel like, at this point, it's the show every college/high school has done. But I could see it working at the Roundabout space off-Broadway.

bringing the show to Broadway with this cast may not be profitable, but it’s doing INCREDIBLY well at the Kennedy Center. They have found this 5-6 show staged concert format to be a huge success. Tickets were selling at a fast clip before the cast was even announced. I think they even added an extra performance to meet the ticket demand.

Hi haterobics - Can you provide a source in regards to the Barrow Street "not existing" any more. I can't seem to find anything on their official website.

Thanks.

BCS has only been going on at the Kennedy Center for a year. It’s sold very well for each concert, but we don’t have any idea if transfers from this concert series are viable yet.

Rest of the cast and creative team have been announced!

The more I hear about this production, the more I desperately hope it transfers. Especially excited about Megan Hilty and Amber Iman.

And she’ll tell that to anyone who’ll listen herself.

I wouldn’t go that far. The Off Bway production ran for years after Greene departed

That's unfortunate because many talented actresses took a turn playing the role in the original Off Broadway production which had an impressive run of 2,209 performances. So it did work without her.

She was furious that they didn’t have her instead of Kerry Butler, in the Broadway production! Hehe

Who was furious? That particular production was misguided. Kerry Butler, as talented as she is just didn't cut the mustard as "Audrey". The whole production just felt "off". The cast recording is unlistenable. Alice Ripley dodged a bullet.

I know it's only a concert and as much as I do love her,  Megan Hilty, at this point is typecast as the "dumb blonde/blonde bombshell". From what I can decipher she's gotten the opportunity to step out of that kind of role once or twice - but for the most part that's all she's been known to play.

She can do "Audrey" in her sleep at this point. It's not much of a stretch for her.

I really would like to see her in something other than the cute/sexy/ditzy blonde.

Ellen Greene. She felt she should have been asked to play the role and that she would have brought in millions at the box office. Her words.

Well she was cast as Audrey straight out of college for the revival tour, but was let go when Anthony Rapp was cast since they were too far apart in age. Maybe she just would like to finally play the role professionally?

I see. As much as I love Ellen I think that by then she had aged out of the role.
