I, for one, am very excited to be going to London at the end of September, to see this newly revised production with a BOBBIE rather than the usual male BOBBY...and the cast will also include a gay couple mixed in with the other Bobbie friends!...anyone else going, or excited to see this?...
Yes!!! Already have flights booked to London in the fall mainly to see this show and also other ones that we don't have here on Broadway (The Inheritance, Lehman Trilogy). So excited!
And another youtube clip (this time Rosalie interview.) I just realized Marianne Elliott is directing it so I'm more excited now too on her take on this Sondheim classic!
I’m seeing it in October. Haven’t been this excited for a Sondheim production since the 2011 FOLLIES. I hope it can get recorded, transfer to New York etc.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
BUMP...doing so because, as i am only 2 weeks from my trip to London and seeing this revised production in the West End...the buzz over there has been building, not so much over here for seeing for what i think will be this exciting production...all the script and casting changes are very interesting and as someone who has seen almost every iteration, including the 1970 original Broadway cast...minus Dean Jones...i am more than excited for this...
I noticed today the poster has started to make its way in tube stations. It's a beautiful poster I think!

I had a dream that this announced it was transferring to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre this spring and I was incredibly bummed when I realized it wasn’t real
I'm going the second week of October. Very much looking forward to seeing how this will be done. Coincidentally, I saw Rosalie Craig in The Ferryman in the same theater when I was over there earlier this year.
