I’m auditioning for Les in a few weeks, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to dress for the audition? To show which part I want, yknow. But not like wearing a blast to the past outfit either...help!

I wouldn't recommend dressing up to suggest what character you want. For example, if you were auditioning for Heathers, don't wear a red headband. Just be presentable (business casual) but not too formal. You want to show that you care about what you're doing and being presentable displays that.

Then your director has little scope for imagination.

It's hard to subtly dress for this. There wasn't a lot of variation between kids and adults - and particularly not between kids if different ages.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
