Dolly National Tour cast announced. |
Especially excited to see Nic Rouleau play someone besides Elder Price - LOL!
But in all seriousness this seems like a great cast and I'm excited to see this fantastic revival bring joy to many around the country!
Is Jessica Sheridan the only member of the current Broadway cast to join the tour? She's an ensemble member that has always captured my attention and admiration each of the times I have seen this perfect production.

No- there are a few current ensemble members joining as well!
Subtly dropping my 'no non-white principal cast members' observation. This is annoying, frankly. Especially after the relatively vocal controversy from OBC announcement.

Agree 100% with you. Unrelated, it would be nice if Dear Evan Hansen and Kinky Boots (Charlie) did the same,
So excited for Nic! He will be fantastic!
I saw Jessica Sheridan as Ernestina on Broadway and she was absolutely hysterical and made me laugh more than any of the other Ernestinas I had seen! I'm so excited for her as well!
VERY exited about this now! And GREAT looking cast too!!!
Who’s going to the Preview Shows in Utica? I’m already seeing this twice - once in Cleveland for the National Tour Launch and again next August in Pittsburgh. Would love to try to see it twice in PIT, grabbing another seat when individual tickets go on sale.
As a side note: 9 more days until I see Bette. Yeah!!!
Well that explains why Analisa Leaming recently departed School of Rock.
I was kind of hoping that Christian Dante White would be cast as Cornelius.

I will be seeing both shows in Utica and couldn’t be more excited, especially now with this cast!
Seeing Bette one final time on Wednesday!

Can’t wait to read your report! I too would be over the top excited to be among the very first to see the new show with Betty Buckley and the entire touring cast. You’ll have to let us know how not having a passerelle is handled.
I haven’t seen Bette yet, only Bernadette. Can’t wait to get back to NYC to see a couple of shows next weekend. Wooohooo!!!

Are you accusing the casting team of racial discrimination?

Has it been confirmed there won't be a passerelle or are you assuming there won't be one? Haven't other productions of Dolly toured with a passerelle just fine in the past?

Do they bring a passerelle with them? I know for a fact that the Connor Palace in Cleveland (where I saw The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time) and the Benedum Center of the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh (where I have seen numerous shows) do not have a permanent, fixed, passerelle-style stage. Unless the venue has one that attaches to the current stage, the tour will need to bring one. Is this what the Shubert Theater and other venues in the past did? Add a passerelle? Just curious.

I ain't gonna let you try to gaslight them.
What they're saying is the team has had two opportunities to cast this show from the ground up and chose all white people both times. That is a choice. White is not neutral.
Each time, there's an opportunity to change that status quo and each time, it's an opportunity missed.

They would bring the passerelle with the rest of the set pieces. The actual construction of it, is not anything complicated. What does complicate matters is if the theatre needs to remove seats to accommodate it.
When the show first toured, in the 60’s theatres on receiving tours, had a slightlymore flexible approach than nowadays. Today deals with ticketing companies and just overall greed sometimes eliminate theatres as a possibility as they simply will not remove a row of seats, much the same as they might balk at a show with no interval (the losses in drinks takings is huge)
That said, the Broadway production has been a big deal and its no smalltime producer. I would be very surprised if the production toured without the passerelle.
