Really? What makes you think that?
According to the few Google searches I did, he moved from LA back to Sydney back in January. The article I read made it sound like he was burned out after GHD flopping and his animated film project falling through. MATILDA is still running in the West End, and the amateur rights are due out soon, so it's not like Tim's broke. It sounds like more of a frustration with the industry.
I really hope he does some more music soon. GHD was my second favorite show last season (behind DEH), and there's no sound quite like him in the theatre today.
I hope he continues to make music even if he takes a break from musical theatre for a bit. Both industries are tough, but there's so much in musical theatre that is out of your control and there are so many ingredients that have to come together perfectly to make it work. Even Jerome Robbins said as much when he decided Fiddler would be his last musical. Minchin is honestly one of the best lyricists this industry has right now (I'd argue the best) and I'd love to see his talents encouraged.
I hope Matilda still gets adapted as a film. Was thinking how amazing it would be with someone like Wes Anderson at the helm

Oh my god, now I'm sad he's not writing Beetlejuice. You're right, it seems such a perfect fit.

I wish they could hav re-tooled GHD and sent it out as a non-union tour even just to get it some more exposure. It's such a great piece but I don't think it's going to be done regionally at all.

In what universe?

Max Bialystock: The two cardinal rules of producing. One: Never put your own money in the show.
Leo Bloom: And two?
Max Bialystock: [yelling] Never put your own money in the show!

Bialystok: It's Taboo!
I always loved that bit.

I love GHD, but probably wouldn't go that far. It was such a weak year. If a single show had moved to last year, Comet or CFA would have won. GHD would have had a good shot.
