Really hope they take it. Perfect fit.

I think some folks aren't familiar with how talented and versatile she is. Don't be so quick to pigeon-hole her because of her outstanding work on Broadway.
Someone asked, "Can she dance?" Yes. She's played Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street, and Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Her dancing skills are excellent. You can rent/view Indecent to see small examples of her dance skills.
Katrina has also played Sugar Kane inSugar, so she does have the capacity to bring a Kidman-like nuance (similar to Monroe's) to the role, if that's what producers might be looking for.
Is she too old for the role? Don't be silly.
I don't know if she wants, or is pursuing the role, but there is absolutely no question in my mind that if she is pursued for the role, she would be outstandingly believable in the role. She is a remarkable actress - it's just that most people only know her from her Broadway work, which makes it seem that she's only "right" for roles where an accent is required...
Absolutely. She's spectacular and brings a illusive mystique to everything she does. You ageists need to back off. Age is relative. She would bring qualities to the character that would would surprise everyone.

Gosh, that would be perfect; it's a much better fit than the Hirschfeld (and we know for sure that the Winter Garden will be open next year). Fingers crossed!

This may just be me, but I don't think Ariana could give Satine the emotional depth she needs. I thought Karen did a good job of it.
With that great Times review and high name recognition of the show, I wouldn’t be surprised if the 3 main New York theatre owners are bidding to get the show now. This show would be awful in the Hirshfeld as others have said and would be better in the Winter Garden and those 100 extra seats a night means extra $$$$.
I could even go one step further and say even stick it into the Broadway which also be perfect for this and move King Kong to the Imperial, where it has a better capacity that would match the anticipated audience.
Both producers and theatre owners are common to Moulin Rouge and King Kong.
