This is wonderful, wonderful casting! I feared she had retired from acting after withdrawing from THE FRONT PAGE last year.

I'm willing to overlook the fact that in 1875, Henry's mother gave birth at age 54... :)

Whoa! That's quite a coup. I think whatever age they deducted from Henry Higgins for this production, they certainly added it to Mrs. Higgins.

Oh wow! I figured they’d just promote the understudy. So exciting Ms. Harris is returning to the stage!

Dear Ms. Harris: if your caller ID says "M. Riedel" press "ignore."

I saw Rex Harrison's 1981 MFL production with 93-year-old Cathleen Nesbitt as Mrs. Higgins. Her entrance applause was impressive.

Trivia: Rosemary Harris has already played Mrs. Higgins, in a production of "My Fair Lady" at the Hollywood Bowl in 2003, with John Lithgow, Melissa Errico, Roger Daltrey and Paxton Whitehead.

LOL!

This is great news. I might have to squeeze another performance of My Fair Lady into my budget for the fall.

Anyone know if MFL has been at the TKTS booth at all, aside from the July 4th week? (I know it hasn't been on TDF)

It's there pretty much every time I check the app lately - currently it's at 40% off for tonight.

And to think I was sad that I wasn't going to see Rigg.

A legend, that's perfect!

Saw the show again last night.  As expected, Harris is marvelous.  She also looks terrific.  I loved Rigg in the role too.  Harris's interpretation is very different.  Each has brought a very personal stamp to the role.  Rigg's was a chewy star turn high on a grittty grandeur. Henry must have been very intimidated by this formidable  mother, which made for an intriguing idea.  With Harris, it's all warmth, grace and elegance balanced with a commanding intelligence.  Rigg's Mrs. H was a bit world-weary.  Harris's is a woman who will never tire of observing the world.  Harris and Ambrose have exquisite chemistry.

^^^ Completely agree.

She was warm and very charming. She also got entrance applause and a standing ovation at her curtain call. Yes, at 90, she is too old for the role, but it's such a lovely performance that it doesn't matter at all. I feel blessed to see her onstage again.
