It was probably because you went INTO THE THEATRE, not because you grabbed a playbill.

You probably would’ve had more luck if you had just asked if you could have a playbill? Instead of just entering the theater when you hadn’t seen the show?

If you entered a restaurant and without ordering anything, sat down at a table people had just left and hadn't finished everything on their plate and you started eating the food they left over, I think you would find the same phenomenon occur even though you might not understand it since the people weren't going to finish it and they would have had to throw it out anyway.

I think we all await your 10 paragraph essay on why selling playbills isn't such a bad thing.

So many cringe-worthy statements in this post, but as it frequently is, Lizzie has come through as a voice of reason: you can’t just walk into places and start digging around for stuff. It’s one thing to step in to the theater and ask a staff member for a playbill, but it’s something totally different to enter the auditorium and start your own scavenger hunt.

Full disclosure (and actually I'd forgotten about this until now): I admit going into a theatre ONCE when I hadn't seen the show but was walking by and really had to use the bathroom, but the show was getting toward the end of letting out, I knew where the bathroom was, and I knew one of the ushers — I told him he could watch me go straight into the bathroom and come straight out (which I did). I wasn't doing it as any kind of pattern.

Also, if you really want a playbill without having seen the show? Just wait in front (not AT the stage door), and see who discards them. You can usually find clean ones sitting on top of planters, recycle bins, window ledges, a table of the nearest Starbucks...

My thoughts exactly lol. I have only entered theaters after the show with permission and to buy merchandise. Guess what? They never have a problem. Just ask. Don’t take playbills without asking also, though imo it’s fair game if it’s on the floor in the pathways when walking through the theater. Also, ushers are more likely to give a playbill if you buy merchandise

No one yelled at you.  Just because everyone thought you were in the wrong doesn't mean anyone yelled.

Upper case letters and punctuation aren't just a suggestion when writing, btw.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
